Q: Excessive thirst

Hi ladies! I am 25 weeks, and have noticed, especially the past couple of weeks (but I think off and on before, too, as I recall) that I have been sooooooo thirsty! I sometimes feel like I can't hold as much water as I need! Unfortunately, drinking too much water at a time also seems to give me heartburn, but that's another issue entirely. I'm not sure if I should be worried, and maybe ask about having my glucose test a couple of weeks early? Is this normal or a sign of Gd? This is my first pregnancy so I don't really have anything to reference it against. I have an appt in 2 days, and I'm not sure if I should wait and mention it then, or call and mention it to see if they will test me early. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you end up having Gd?

Thanks!!!

Ugh, Thanks, everyone. I was afraid of but expecting those answers! I called the nurse line at my clinic first thing this morning to discuss it with someone and get the glucose test scheduled for my appointment this week. I have a feeling it's going to come back positive, even though nobody in my family has ever had that or any type of diabetes. I can just tell. Ick, hopefully it won't be severe and will be easily controlled!

I would call ahead of your appointment so you can be prepared to do the glucose test while you're there.
I have GD. Try not to worry...it's not as bad as it can be made out. I've been keeping my numbers in check with diet and exercise (so, no meds) and I'm 36 weeks today.
Good luck!

I would def mention it bc excessive thirst is a big red flag for GD. They will probably want to go ahead and give you your glucose test since you're at the stage of pregnancy when gd starts to rear its ugly head. Gl though! Hopefully it is just due to it being Summer!

yes that is a sign, i'd call your doctor and tell them you think you need the test done a little early.

It's worse in the evenings, if that makes any difference
