I used Ameda for my first 2 and plan on using it again. I love it, however, my sil hated it. Its a personal choice. You can rent them from the hospital and determine which one you like best before spending $300 + on one. I woulnd't recommend avent at all! I hated that one.

Medela is the one I used.. Although there's a few versions out there. I bought the one that's portable ($300ish), but was so worth it. I'd been borrowing one from my sister-in-law and was in love with mine. It had a clock that told how long I was pumping (might sound silly, but in the night or after no sleep, you end up forgetting how long, especially when you get to your second boob!) That alone was worth the extra money.

I wish I could find the one WIC gave me, I was using a manual and was told that an electric one was the best way to go because it would work your milk ducts better. Any ways the electric one WIC gave me came in a little backpack and it could be plugged in or use batteries, had a cold pack to put your milk in and everything. It was great for a quick pump when I had a chance to take a break. After I went back to work I was only able to pump for about a month till I dried up( I was a CNA at a Nursing home and couldn't pump as often or as long as I needed). Good luck to you and hope you find a good one. Oh ya Medela is a good one too.

Ameda is a good one. And it has a closed system to prevent milk and moisture from entering into the pump's tubing and motor. Makes for easier cleaning. Also preventing mold growth in the motor.

Medela! I can't remember the model I have. It was like $300 and comes in a black bag. It has a battery pack so you don't always have to have an outlet. My friends that used avent ended up borrowing mine and liked it better. I would also use the hand pump, especially for blocked ducts. A lot goes into choosing a pump #1 don't buy one until you KNOW nursing will work or that you're SET on it working. It's hard the first couple weeks. I hurts and just kinda sucks all around until your nips toughen up and you're used to NO sleep. :) And some womans nipples are small, big, or medium which can affect pumping. My friend had tiny nipples which made pumping hard bc the milk would set back in the cone rather than going into the container so she would have to lean forward. You can rent one (you buy the NEW tubes and stuff so no contamination) and see how it works. I could go on ALL day about BFing I did it for almost 2yrs and no one in my family had so I had to learn A LOT myself.
