Q: New question! Anyone get a false positive chlamydia test?

I finally got a hold of my Obgyn's office and the nurse informed me that my chlamydia test came back positive! Ugh. Now, I am not in denial, but I am pretty sure this is a false positive. My husband and I have been monogamous for 12 years now. I haven't cheated. Not only does he say he didn't either, but he really has no time. He works 12 hour days and is never later than 15 minutes getting out. His paychecks reflect the hours he works. Other than that if we are not together, he has our son or is with his parents. So, I guess what I am asking is has anyone gotten a false positive on a culture? They said even if that was the case they would still make us take the antibiotics, is it safe for the baby? This is so frustrating. I honestly do believe he is faithful to me, but I feel so dirty and sad right now. Thanks for any and all input.

It might also make you feel better to get re-tested yourself. Despite your husband's results, especially if they are negative, you should probably get a second "opinion."

It does. I was molested a few years back, so it is some comfort knowing my husband wasn't necessarily unfaithful. Thank you for the response. I guess I will find out more when he gets tested on Saturday.

Chlamydia can lay dormant in the system for years..its known as the silent infection because many don't know they have it or have symptoms. It can show its ugly head when the immune system is lower. That is my understanding anyway. Good luck hun hope this helps some!
