I had brown discharge for 5 weeks beginning at 5 weeks. I'm currently 16 weeks and everything has been normal. I read that some of the discharge is from the placenta taking over the yolk. I agree with the previous answers as long as your not filling up a pad with red blood and cramps, it will be fine.

Agreed, bright red with cramps is bad. Call your doc if your that worried tho. Better safe than sorry.

I agree that you're probably fine but I would go ahead & call your doc to see what they say, I had bleeding several times w/ my first & they told me they usually want to check out any kind of bleed just to be safe. And BONUS, when I did, I got to get in for my first scan earlier than scheduled & got to see my bean!! ;-) It never hurts to be a nuisance where your baby is concerned! Blessings & good luck!

If it bugs you alot, I would contact your OB to make sure everything is ok. I never had spotting in my first pg but my friend did. She said as long as its not bright red and have cramps, you should be fine. Good luck!
