Category: Is It Safe?

Asked by Alleesha

Q: Are these medicines even remotely safe in early pregnancy?

I'm currently 4w3d, and I'm using furosemide (40 mg), bisoprolol (2,5-5 mg), and liothyronin (10 µg) daily.

I want everything to go as well as possible. I know those are some medications you should avoid while pregnant, but is it possible they've already done some damage to my baby? I'm so worried... :(

I do have a doctor's appointment on thursday, but if anyone knows anything about any of those meds during pregnancy, all info is appreciated.

Thank you so much for answering. It took a load off my mind. I'll definitely talk about them with my doctor tomorrow, though. :)

I would talk to your doctor about it but neither of these drugs are listed by the FDA as drugs that are known to cause significant harm to your baby. And the good news is you may even be able to get off of two of them during your pregnancy as pregnancy sometimes naturally decreases your blood pressure. Definitely talk to your doctor, but I wouldn't worry too much. I'm a pharmacy student by the way :)
