Q: When could i get an ultrasound to ease my anxiety??

OK.. I'll try and keep this short.. I am in America, and this is my second pregnancy since coming here. I am 41 years old and considered high risk because of my age, and previous losses.

I have an OB appointment scheduled next friday ( 30th) and I'm wondering if i would be able to get a scan done then, whether i can request one or ???

I miscarried 5 months ago (mmc) and they wouldn't scan me til i was 8 weeks knowing after i had told them i had mc 4 times previously in england.. so this time i'm obviously a little bit worried..

Is there anything i can do to get a scan done sometime between now and next friday?? Or will i have to wait til between 8 and 12 weeks again?

You can also try the saying you have been bleeding and cramping tactic, even if you haven't, and they will normally bring you in for a scan. If you are willing to shell out some cash, there are many elective ultrasound places that will do one whenever you want. If all else fails... I'm only slightly ashamed to admit that I cried on purpose to get early scans at 6 and 7 weeks! lol I had 3 miscarriages and I needed to see something before 8 weeks or I was going to go nuts!

I didn't realize this until now, but I'm due September 19th. So our due dates are right near each other. Praying for us both to have healthy pregnancies.

They can't see much before eight weeks. I had a scan at six/seven weeks, and all you could see was the sac. I've been through miscarriages as well. Good luck!

If you are worried about MCing again, you could ask them about progesterone supplements. It is pretty standard to give them to women over 35 who have had a history of MC. You'd take a vaginal suppository until week 12. You may also ask to have your progesterone level tested (easy blood test).

I'm surprised they didn't scan you just because you are worried about it. My doc would have. It doesn't take them that long to do it and the added peace of mind to their patient should be worth it to them.

Another thing you could try: Tell them you don't know the date of your last menstrual cycle and that you have irregular periods. Or you weren't tracking it or something along those lines. They will then have to US scan you to date the pregnancy. I honestly didn't know the date of my first child, so we got a few extra early scans to be sure they had the projected due date correct.
