Q: Spotting after sex

Hi. Me and my partner had sex last night, first time in a month. I went to the bathroom after and the fluid was pink tinged. When I peed a hour later it had stopped then an hour after that there was pink spotting again. Was so scared all night. Checked at 4 am and it had stopped apart from a very light brown on one wipe. I have my 20 week scan this afternoon so will ask midwife. Also this morning the baby is going crazy kicking. Loads more than I've felt before. I'm already nervous about scan and this has worried me even more.

I don't think that I would worry. Spotting after sex can be very normal. Especially because it never got heavier and it eventually turned brown. I had a lot of spotting in my first trimester and it would start out red/pink and taper off right away, throughout the rest of the day I might have some brown spotting which was just the rest of the blood working it's way out.

There is a lot of extra blood flowing down there while pregnant, especially during sex. :)

I would say if it gets heavier or doesn't stop and comes along with cramping you should definitely call your midwife but from what you described, I think you are just fine. :) It works out well that you have your 20 wk scan this week, that should help you feel a lot better! :)
