Q: Is this really happening?

Ok. I had my daughter 11 weeks ago. She was exclusively breastfed for four weeks, then I pumped exclusively until she was six weeks. I started pumping only 3 times a day from 6 until 9 weeks and I have not pumped or breastfed for over 2 weeks now. I have not had my period yet. Well, this week I have started losing my appetite, I get nauseous numerous times throughout the day and I feel more emotional than ever since my daughter was born. I took a first signal test today to ease my mind and it looks like an evaporation line maybe? Like, I have to hold it up to the light to see it. We started having sex about 4 weeks ago and the only form of birth control has been pulling out. Is this hormones maybe leaving my body? What do you think?

I am going to wait a few more days to be sure. I did take another first signal the next day and it seemed a little lighter in color than the first. These lines are so light that before ttc my children, I would have glanced and thought 'negative'. But, because I have LEARNED to become a squinter I can see something lol. I will probably get a more sensitive test for next time. It will just be a lot to take in. I know everybody is different, but isn't 12 weeks (as of today) a long time without getting a period? Especially because I haven't nursed/pumped around the clock in 6 weeks?

At 11w pp I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be any left over hcg. I can't say for sure because I'm not a doctor or anything, but I know it was out of my system by 6w pp as I took a pregnancy test and it was stark white negative lol.
There's definitely a possibility that you could be pregnant. Lots of women get pregnant again before they have their first pp period.

It is a myth that breastfeeding is birth control. I was exclusively breastfeeding my son around the clock and conceived my daughter when he was 6 months old. It is very possible, I would take another test and see.

I agree that it is possible for you to be pregnant. You could have gotten pregnant the first time you ovulated after stopping breast feeding. I can't speak from personal experience but my cousin got pregnant with her second without ever having a period after her first baby was born.

Of course you may not be pregnant. You could have ovulated and you are feeling the hormones from that alone. I would test if you don't get your period soon.

It's very possible that you are pregnant. Breastfeeding can be a reliable form of birth control IF you are nursing every 2 hours around the clock as well as other factors, even then, it's very iffy.

Hmmm. I didn't have my period for almost a year while breast feeding, I think. I started a progestin "mini pill" at 6 weeks post-partum, when I started having sex again. It's supposedly better than the combo pills when you're breast feeding... However, since you stopped altogether, you could probably use many different methods of contraception without worry. Some people ovulate and get pregnant even while nursing, so you could be pregnant. I'd definitely test in a few days, if you're still feeling symptomatic and call your doctor with your concerns either way.

They did it a little differently than that for me. I know that it isn't the best birth control, but it has worked for us in the past. I was pumping when I went in. My doctor said she didn't want to mess with supply, so to wait it out. I also was told not to start the pill until my first period. So, that's what I did. I know we could have been more careful. If we are pregnant, it's meant to be. On the other hand, I definitely hope it's an evaporation line (for now) thank you for responding!

It's possible your pregnant. That's why at the 6weeks doctors check it is one for you and baby and a method of birth control is discussed and put into place, Pap smear babies 6weeks immunisations etc. it's a full on appt to cover everything in my country. I would be not using the withdrawal method as a form of contraception if you don't want to risk getting pregnsnt again so soon. I'd give it another couple of days and retest. If negative I'd sort some proper form of contraction. Best of luck :-)
