Q: What did you do to prepare for your first baby?

I have so far washed all of his clothes and bottles. I have his nursery all ready to go (I hope). This is my first baby, so I have no idea what I am doing. Is there anything else that I should do before he comes?

Make sure you stock up on commonly used household products (toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning products, etc) and pantry/freezer items for easy meals. It sucks to have to run to the store with a newborn. I bought a lot of paper plates, plastic forks and cups, etc as well so I wouldn't have to do dishes. Two things I have already had to run out to get more of...burp cloths and nursing bras. You can never have enough burp cloths and I was leaking all over my nursing bras even with breast pads and kept having to wash them like every day.

Purex baby is amazing! It is SO tough on stains. There are also Purex Crystals for baby which smell amazing and are also hypoallergenic, but always seem to be out of stock.

A couple other things I did was also wash pacifiers, teethers, and everything related to my breast pump. I also packed what I thought I may need in the diaper bag just to get a feel for the space and the weight.

Thanks!! I used Dreft. I didn't know there were other kinds you could use. That's good to know considering how pricey Dreft is :)

This is kind of in response to the other commenter here lol, but you don't need necessarily "baby soap"... just hypoallergenic (scent & dye free).. most brands have a hypoallergenic formula now and they are all cheaper than baby laundry detergent. I personally use Purex as it's the cheapest one around here =)

Anywho, I also agree, have formula in the house even if you plan on BFing =)

I didn't really do a lot of preparing as far as baby was concerned lol. Babies really don't require a lot of things =) Most preparations I wished I'd done were in regards to my postpartum self lol!

Did you use baby laundry soap? That was one thing I never thought of before baby came. I had to rewash everything in baby soap haha. One other thing I would do is, even if you plan on breast feeding...keep a bit of formula in the house IN CASE. I never thought I'd need it and it turned out I did.
