Q: Advice please

Ok so I'm roughly 5 weeks pregnant I had a missed miscarriage last year, but yesterday I was involved in a bad car crash where the seat belt had put strain on my stomach, I went to hospital as the pains was bad but they refused to scan me as I'm so early I've been referred for a scan next Tuesday, but the pains are still there, I suppose I'm looking for reassurance as if anybody has been through this before..thanks x

Hi dear,
I am so sorry for your accident. However, chances are that your baby can still be safe inside. If and only if there had been involved a serious trail of bleeding, the situation was dangerous then. Although you mentioned about the seat belt pushing up against your belly real hard, this might cause a little danger. There could have happened some internal defect, but as you are just 5 weeks in, the baby is too small to get hurt. But I suggest you don't take any risks and chances again. Travel as less as possible. And take care of your surroundings. Situations can these can be fatal for the both of you. Thake care.

I think at this stage baby is pretty well protected. You are probably bruised. Hope everything is OK when you get your scan!!

I fell over my niece when I was newly pregnant with my first and landed face first on concrete. As long as there's no blood you should be able to rest assured.

I wasn't involved in an accident but my toddler jumped real hard on the top of my stomach during my second trimester. Omg it hurt so bad. As long as you're not bleeding I think you're ok. You may want to check with a pregnancy resource center like options 360, pathways, planned parenthood. Centers such as these provide scans to make sure baby is ok and in the right place.
