Q: Family name or not?

My husband is Milton Eugene the third and wants to name our baby the fourth if it is a boy. I absolutely HATE it, but I know it would mean a lot to his grandparents (I don't think his parents care at all). Even my husband has said he doesn't like the name, he only likes what it represents. I cannot come up with any nicknames that I like. We can't use Gene because that is what my husband goes by, and we can't use Milt cause that his going to be his dad's grandfather name. I am completely out of ideas other than trying to convince hubby to use a different name. Help!

You could call him Tony!! After he is born, you will call him all sorts of nicknames until one sticks. I know a Eugene who goes by Bubba. You'll find a great nickname from a strong family name. Try not to over think it now.

I know this doesn't really help, but I kind of like the name Milton! So many boy names nowadays end with "on" --- like Aidan, Mason, Dylan, Dalton, etc etc etc. It's so common. Milton isn't that common, but it fits right in with the trend. The grandfather can be called Milt, the dad can be called Gene, and he can be Milton. I don't really love the Eugene part, but it's just a middle name. However, I know you want to name your baby the name that YOU pick out, not that someone picked out generations ago! Still, hope this helps.
