Q: Pap smear at 20 weeks?

Hey everyone. Next week I will have my 20 weeks appointment. I am set up for a pap smear. I had a colpo 5 months ago, and they did not seem concerned with the results at all. I really do not feel comfortable having a pap smear during my pregnancy. Any suggestions?

I had a miscarriage February of 2015 and I am very protective over this pregnancy. (Not a crazy person though) Just dont feel comfortable with a pap smear.

If the colposcopy was due to HPV, they're repeating the PAP to see if it's cleared up. If it hasn't, you'll have to have a c-section. I have a history of HPV also, so they'd warned me when I had a pap at my first appointment that if it came back bad we'd have to redo it later to see if it was still active or not and that'd determine how I could deliver.

I don't honestly believe you have anything you need to be concerned with, as Gymnast36 said, Pap's are safe up to 24wks.

Thank you for the reply. I just dont know what my problem is all of the sudden when it comes to this stuff. I called the nurse there and left her a voicemail. Hopefully she will call me back today. I am just not wanting to have it done. I would be much happier if I was able to have it after I had him

Apparently they are safe up to 24 weeks and have no increased miscarriage risk. I would ask about waiting until after bubs is here if you are worried. I have had a miscarriage and I don't think I would feel comfortable either.
