Q: Circumcision

No judgement here nor any need to know the reason for wanting or not wanting to circumcise.

Who has and hasn't circumcised their baby boy?

What procedure was used and/or pain relief?

Thank you.

My sons are both circumciszed using two different procedures. The 1st one was snipped off and it was a little bloody and red. I wasn't prepared for it to be so red and raw looking but he was fine. Just put vaseline on him and the diaper so his healing skin doesn't stick to it. My second sons procedure was much better. They put a cap on it and cut around it. Onces it heals, the cap falls off like the umbilical cord. No blood or special treatment. It's completely protected by the cap. Doc said this method is starting to replace the first method. Definitely seems much easier to me.

My son was circumcised all they did was take my son for an hour or so and they numbed him and did it. All YOU have to do is keep some cream that they give you on it and then when you run out of that after they have done sent you home, you can go to your local drug store or any store and purchase Patroleum Jelly and use that

We didnt circumcise our first and he hasnt had any issues. We won't be cutting our next boy either. The way I see it (completely my opinion, no one has to agree), my boys can have it lopped off when they're 18+, but if they don't like that it's missing, it cant be put back on. I don't wanna be the one making that lifelong decision for them. To each their own tho.

Good luck with whatever decision u come to. It's not an easy one to make, so just do what u and hubs want...ignore anyone who says ur final decision is wrong. =))

My first 2 sons are circumcised however my first son at 2 had to have an additional surgery because the scar tissue left his opening too narrow. When he would pee it would spray everywhere . When I had my 3rd son even though my husband was really for it I opted out.... there's no medical reason for it. He ended up having to have open heart surgery so I'm glad he didn't have to go through more then he had to.

I debated about having my son circumsized but ultimately we had it done. I'm not sure about the procedure but we've had no issues. His recovery went well. While I was on the fence about it my husband was strongly for it. I also talked to those who did and didn't have it done and did a lot of research. You are right about getting it done now as the one opportunity. My stepson is not circumsized and doctors now won't really justify having it done unless there is a medical issue. I was wary of making the decision for my son but as his parent I will have to make these decisions for a long time.

My son was circumcised and he recovered rather quickly after it was done. With him they numbed his penis with lidocaine and then used a scalpel to cut off the skin. The doctors placed Vaseline on his penis and returned him to me. Of course he was cranky but I was able to breast feed him immediately after. My sons penis only bled the first day, after that it began the process of fairly quick healing. The whole process went way better than expected and I am definitely happy I did this especially after discussing with the doctor all of the benefits she also recommended doing this because his father is circumcised as well.

Thank you Fairelf, I am interested with how the baby reacted so your reply was helpful--thank you.

Blondeone12 I also appreciate your reply. My husband is circumcised and doesn't want our son to be as he feels it is an unnecessary procedure. I am 50/50 and feel that this is our one opportunity when he is born otherwise there is no looking back if we don't.

Circumcised is all I personally know and the more research I find it seems that numbing agents are now becoming the norm leaving the child relatively pain-free (that is what is important to me is ensuring that there is no pain).

I continue to look forward to other mothers replies, please.

Thank you.

We choose not to circumcise our son. He seems to be doing just fine at 8 weeks. No problems.

I got both my sons circumcised for appearance and cleanliness reasons. I think they each got a different method used (different doctors). My oldest slept (!) through the whole procedure, which was done the day after he was born. My youngest got it done after two weeks. My youngest screamed during, but was totally fine immediately after. Neither seemed to want pain relief for it.
