Ronen Emery's Birth Story

Ronen wasn't due until January 25th, but he decided he couldn't wait. I woke up about 9:45 on Dec. 20th. I thought i felt some leaking and i immediately thought to myself, "uh oh, I know what that is!" I jumped out of bed because i didn't want to mess up the sheets, and ran to the bathroom. By the time i got there, my water had broken everywhere. I was in a bit of a shock, because i was only 35 weeks. I didn't have a pad big enough, so i used one of my toddler's overnight diapers. Worked like a charm! lol After DH got over his initial shock, we started rushing around getting bags packed up. We didn't have anything ready because we weren't expecting it to happen yet. It took a couple hours to get to the hospital because we had to get stuff ready, and get people lined up to cover classes at our school.

By the time we got there, i was having mild contractions, but nothing serious yet. All this just happened to fall on the same day my good friend was there having her scheduled C-section. Her husband wandered out into the hallway while we were waiting for our room, stopped short, and said, "what are you guys doing here?" I answered, "same as you!" lol We ended up being neighbors in recovery.

It took several hours to progress far enough to get the epidural, and then it was just waiting around. The only really unpleasant part of it all was that the epidural didn't completely numb my entire abdomen. I had one palm sized spot on my left side that never got numb and by the end, i was in agony! I could feel every contraction centered right there! Same thing happened with my last baby too.

I pushed for about 20 minutes, which surprised me because i pushed over 3 hours with both of my other two! He popped out with no breathing problems at all, which was my biggest concern at 35 weeks. He did have some blood sugar issues and jaundice, which took some treatment, but overall, he did great for his prematurity. We went home after 4 days, on Xm

Thanks! I keep looking at the profile printout and I just want to boop his little nose with my fingertip SO BAD. ;) Soon enough!

And yes! We're super close... it would be so exciting to log on to post the birth announcement and see yours on here as well. Congrats on the brown belt, by the way!

I see you're a martial arts mum too? Name kinda says it all! :D
Hope you're going to keep it up (as much as you can) throughout your pregnancy! I'm a karate mum-to-be and had kept it up doing non-contact until a few complications arose.
Happy and healthy rest of your 9 months of pregnancy!!! Love your photos btw :D

:( Oh no! I'm so sorry. At least baby is doing well, and hey, look at the bright side - you're more than a third of the way done!
