Owen Michael 's Birth Story

I was scheduled to be induced on 12/26/12, but on Christmas day, my body had some serious plans for me. I had been having stronger braxton hicks contractions all day and started timing them. The were pretty much all over the place so I just rested all day. We got home from celebrating Christmas with my family and I took a shower and laid down and that's when they started to get more painful. I was supposed to call the doctor when my contractions were 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute for 1 hour. Some of them were 15 minutes apart, others 7 minutes apart, but they were getting more and more painful. At 9pm, I decided to call the doctor and she said to head on over to L&D. By 9:30pm my contractions were 2 minutes apart and almost unbearable. Once in my room, the nurse checked me and said I was only 3cm dilated. I was in so much pain because he was facing the wrong way and with every contraction he was pushing on my back. She checked me a little later and I was a 5, then again a few minutes later and I was a 7. It was crazy fast and then when the doctor got there I was already a 9. I did get an epidural between 5cm and 7cm and then I was very calm. The doctor broke my water but couldn't tell if it was clear or not because I was losing a lot of blood. My blood pressure started out normal and then would go real high and then real low. Baby's heartrate was all over the place and was causing everyone concern. They were trying everything to try and regulate baby's heart rate but had no success. Although I was dilated to 9cm, I wasn't getting to 10cm fast enough to deliver vaginally and have a healthy baby. Because baby was in distress they rushed me to the operating room for an emergency c-section. It all felt so surreal and still does. It was all very traumatic and nothing I had planned for. Owen is doing great and I am trying to heal from the surgery. I will be in the hospital a couple more days and then we will go home on Saturday. Owen is the love of my life!

Nope no more appointments for me....just going in at 7am on the 26th! I am praying that it isn't long process for us! With my son it was an all day thing and I finally had him at 11:40pm....so since this is my second I am hoping all these women are right and say it doesn't take as long the next time around! Hope all is well with you....

Nope no bleeding here...Id say its from your cervix softening, she probably irriateded it....Gina had the same thing remember? She posted about it a couple weeks ago so hopefully nothing to be concerned about. At least you are up to 2 cm...thats progress in my book! :) My son really probably won't care either way because he will be so busy....he can probably spend the night with my parents Christmas night so he won't have to wake up early and he will be perfectly content with that! Hubby says he doesn't want to go in on the 27th, he says "there is a reason you don't like that doctor because you pretty much get along with everyone so I would hate to have to go off on the doctor in the delievery room for upsetting you!" hahaha gotta love him!

I wonder why such a difference in times? I am scheduled to go in at 7am on the 26th....I also went in at 7am with my son. I didn't have any cervadil with my son, just patocin....I wonder what will happen this go round? I remember my doctor not really being present for most of the day too but when labor really hits I don't want to have someone who is cold I want someone who will actually be more personalable than this doctor....I have only saw the other doctor once and don't really remember anything about him but at least he didn't make the impression on me like the other! hahaha Well looks like I will go in the morning and you will go in the afternoon, countdown begins! :) 8 days!

Hey there chicky! I just got back from my appt. I have made really no further process, I had to have a non stress test done today since his movements have decreased the last few days and just really be told by doctor that I still have an unfavorable cervix. We were offeneded! :) But after talking with her we put an induction on the books...we were going to do the 27th, until I found out the doctor I don't really care for is on call (bummer), she then said she would not schedule me the 28th or after because it is usually busy/mad house in L&D that weekend so our option....the 26th. I don't like that but hey what can I do. I really just wanted to stay home with my son in pjs all day that day but now I don't get to do that so needless to say I am having a emotional tug of war with myself. I feel like I should just suck it up and go in on the 27th with that doctor anyways.....how are you doing mommy?
