Christopher's Birth Story

Well it started out a lovely Dec. morning with snow and sleet!! We got up to head to hospital, was told to call L&D at 7am they delayed us until 8am. Once at hospital things moved pretty well...started with Cervadil since I was still at 1.5 cm. Was checked again in about 2cm, broke my water....kept waiting until around 4pm? I was finally about 3-4cm. (yep we like to take our time! haha) Around 5cm my contractions were HUGE and back to back...one on top of the other....found out the beauty of an epidural! Stayed pretty calm, relaxed for the next few hours while waiting to dialate further. Nurse kept telling me to look for pressure down at my bottom where it would feel like I needed to have a BM...um...nope. I felt pressure to my front like I needed to Pee but knew that couldn't be it due to the cath. After telling the nurse that at least 4 times she said "well let me check you just for my curiosity" HAHA was completely dialated and baby was ready! Doctor came in got everything ready and it was time to push....babys heartrate started dropping and they couldn't figure why so I was told to give everything I had and after 10 minutes of pushing my doctor asked for my hands and put them under my sons shoulders and I delivered my beautiful 7lb 8oz baby boy! Turns out there was a knot in his cord but luckily I was able to deliver him quick! Everyone is healthy and happy!

Hey there! I just wanted to get on and wish you a Merry Christmas! I probably won't be on again before you go to the hospital to be induced. Good luck with your baby boy and I hope all goes wonderful! I went to L&D last night because baby just wasn't moving much yesterday. While I was there they we worried about my blood pressure but sent me home for Christmas Eve and Christmas if I promised to rest a lot. The doctor has moved my induction time to 6:30 am on Wednesday so it looks like we will be laboring at the same time. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you anxiously await Kyle's arrival. I can't wait to hear your birth story and see pictures! Are you on facebook? If you are and would like to be friends just look me up - Brenda Hartley Guertner (my picture is with Minnie Mouse) I will be posting pictures and stuff right away to facebook because it is so easy. On here it takes me forever!

That is so crazy to think we only have 8 days left!!! My kids are the same way, they won't care about spending the day with me because they will have all of their Christmas presents to play with and keep them busy :) Your husband has a good point about there being a reason for you not liking that doctor, and you want this to be a good birthing experience and not a cold one, so the 26th it is! I do remember Gina posting about her bleeding so I will have to go back and reread it. I go in for my last check up on Christmas Eve and the nurse said the bleeding will probably happen again so not to worry. I don't want to be checked then becasue I cramped the rest of the day...not really how I want to spend Christmas Eve :( Do you go in again before you get induced?

really don't have to deal with the doctor you don't like very much. On the other hand, do you think you could make a lazy pj day with your son this weekend and tell him that you really wanted to spend the day after Christmas doing it but things have changed? What does your hubby think about it? That's tough but just take a little time and think about all of the pros and cons about both days :) I had my appointment yesterday and while she was checking she said that everything was pretty much the same as last week but I am now dilated to 2 cm. Then I bled a ton after which freaked my husband and I out so much. He went and got the nurse and she was only worried about my water possibly being broke. I said no, it's just a lot of blood and I have never had this after an exam. She said to call if I was still bleeding today, which I am a little but it's brown now so I am not worried. Just a little scary and not normal for me. Has that ever happened to you after a cervical check?

I totally understand your dilema about being torn between the 26th and 27th. I know how important it is to give your son that one last day of hanging out with mommy before his little brother is here. It is so hard with Christmas being thrown in the mix :( I also understand how you don't want a doctor you don't like to deliver baby Kyle. That is a tough call. I asked my doctor yesterday what I can expect with this induction and she said I would go into the hospital at 7:30pm on the 26th, I would be given something to help ripen my cervix and that will take 12 hours. She will come in the next morning and see if I am progressing. If I am then she will break my water and let me labor, but if not they will start me on pitocin. Then she will be back for the birth. So really, she won't be around much and I will be dealing with the nurses while I am there. When she delivered my son years ago she walked in as I was literally pushing him out. So I don't know if that helps any knowing that you

I just love how we can blame our babies being stubborn and hard headed on our husbands! He he he! I can't believe how close we are, 2 weeks from today we will be holding our boys and getting all the snuggles we want! Do you plan on any pain relief? My doctor asked that at my appt this week and I said oh hell yes...an epidural! My previous labors were back labors so I am fully expecting this one to be the same. I am just scared of the pain and already freaking out about it. Oh well, no pain no gain I guess! Are you still working?
