If today had a title, like a children's book title, that's what it would be. "Andie and the Doctor's Appointment that Never Ended"
My appointment was at 9:00 AM, at the office in a city I don't normally go to but my regular Doctor is on vacation til next week and I had no other choice but to schedule last week and this week at this other office. I hate this office. Every time I go to this particular office I wait a ridiculous amount of time to be seen. Today was the longest ever. I arrived at 8:45 AM. My Father taught me if you're not at least 10 minutes early, you're late and you should never be late, I try to live like that. I give myself plenty of time! I check in with the receptionist. I sit down in the waiting area.
Time ticks by, women come in after me, check in for appointments that are after mine, are seen, LEAVE! I have a fair amount of patience with office appointments. About 45 minutes AFTER I was supposed to have been seen I ask the receptionist how much longer she thinks I'll be waiting. She disappears for a long while and finally a nurse comes out to take me in.
She says "I thought you were having an ultrasound so I was waiting for that"
I look at her in disbelief. "I just had an ultrasound for growth last week".
She says "Well, you're 39 weeks, we need another one because the baby is really big"
"This is actually supposed to be my 38 week appointment but Thursday was when you scheduled it"
"Let me see if there's room for you in ultrasound right now"
Great, Fantastic. I'm going to have to wait for them to squeeze me in to an already super busy ultrasound day. I've seen the waiting room, I know how many women are out there for ultrasounds and I've seen the tech come and get them. She manages to fit me in far sooner than I expected, but still I've been at the office since 8:45 and it's now 10:45. I have another growth ultrasound, baby girl is measuring big, 8lbs 10oz. But we knew this because WE JUST DID THIS LAST WEEK. Now I'm sent BACK to the waiting room because the Dr I was supposed to see was called to the hospital for a surgery.
I play several rounds of candy crush and by the time I'm seen it's past 11:30. Luckily this part goes much faster, they go over the ultrasound "You're having a very big baby" yadda yadda yadda "We'll probably induce at the end of next week" cervical check.... no progress there.
So, now I'm annoyed because I've spent all day at that office and I'm annoyed with my body because it continues to show no signs of laboring on it's own. I keep telling myself this is almost over, a new hopefully much better challenge awaits.

Comment from itsbeans » Posted Jun. 26, 2015 9:47am It was kind of frustrating, it's more frustrating because it's not the first time it's happened to me at this particular office. If only my regular doctor could just, cater to me and not go on vacation during my pregnancy! LOL. Stickybean, that's encouraging because I would really like to avoid induction. If I don't go on my own by next Friday I am pretty sure they will want to induce because the baby is so big =(
Comment from rcorinne » Posted Jun. 26, 2015 12:40am Ugh! What a waste! Sorry you had to deal with that.
Comment from stickybean1976 » Posted Jun. 26, 2015 12:20am With my first I showed no signs at all either but then it all just happened. My labour with her started so suddenly. I had no warning no dilation and hadn't lost my plug. So don't loose hope that you don't have any progression. It can happen so suddenly. x
Comment from tmhess » Posted Jun. 25, 2015 1:29pm Wow, that sounds really frustrating and booooring. Sorry you had to go through that. :(
