HI everybody,
Emma came really, really fast this morning. Fortunately we made it to the hospital in time. We didn't know after an induction last time that she could possibly be in such a hurry to be born. I posted her birth story with the announcement. DH and I had a long string of visitors all afternoon. It was so busy. It was so happy. And yet. It was so sad. Because she is currently residing 4 floors below us in a private NICU room. We want her here with us, but she is in great hands down there. They pretty much forced me to pump since I've been away from her. I hate it. I was hoping to put off pumping until right before I had to go back to work. I don't get that luxury. We did get to give her some pumped colostrum through a tube while she nursed early this evening. She has a great latch. I think she'll be an awesome eater. I was so excited to go nurse her again, but my next visit she was sleeping, and they wanted to keep it that way. SOOOOO, I had to pump again. And a lactation consultant chatted with me. They really want me to pump often and hand express to keep it up while she's in NICU. I felt frustrated and powerless. I just wanted to pick her up and nurse.
