What to do???

Our dog of has lymphoma. We rescued her about 3 years ago and discovered about 2 months ago that she has lymphoma. Initially we decided on chemo but after one treatment costing $500 and the vet pushing for 4 more over the next 15 weeks we decided the cost was too much with the baby on the way. She has been on steroids since then and yesterday she stopped eating and drinking and seemed like she wasn't walking well. Of course it being a Saturday the only vet is the emergency vet and there's nothing they can do for her at this point. So we are looking at Monday at the earliest to put her down and stop her suffering. My issue is my 16 week ultrasound is schedule for Monday morning and we should be finding out the gender of our little one. As much as I love this animal, I think that I want this day to be happy and exciting not sad and miserable. I want to remember it as the day we found out we have a boy or girl not the day our family pet died. She just looks so sad and I hate that I'm even thinking of waiting an extra day because of my selfishness. It's such a hard decision.........

 | Comment from GemGem » Posted May. 19, 2013 10:28am Try and see it as giving her the best care possible, its what she needs and it the best thing you can do for her. Be happy you will be taking away that suffering for her, if you can try not to see it as a loss but a gain for her as she will be in a better place, beside, all dogs go to heaven!! Your day will still be a wonderful day of finding out if you got blue or pink. Good luck and i hope you make the right decision for you. |
