Water Birth Blues
By acrichton » Posted Mar. 29, 2014 9:36am - 232 views - 3 comments

I am so torn on how to birth this amazing baby.

Having no clue where we will be living, there won't be much time for us to get a midwife, and a water birth ready at home. I might be moving to a new state between 7 and 8 months pregnant, and have no clue how long it will take to find an OBGYN or midwife.

My family is set on us delivering at a hospital to be prepared for complications since this is my first. But every time I watch a video of a hospital birth, it scares the holy crap out of me. Al the wires and tubes. Water births give me the chills (in a good way) I watched this and cried my eyes out. A beautiful family. It makes me want a home water birth more than anything but its so hard to get everyone on board. At the end of the day, my husband will let me choose whatever is best for me and baby. He is amazing like that. Take a look at this video if you have time. Beautiful!!!

Every thing Emmapeal said! Start standing up for the birth experience YOU want right now because it's a lot harder to do the closer you get to the birth day.

There's a youtube documentary broken up in to 10 parts. It's called Pregnant in America. You should watch it.

To be frank, this is YOUR body and YOUR baby. The fact that anyone in your family outside of your husband thinks their opinion should bear any weight on your decision baffles me. I understand your family cares about your safety. But, you are becoming a parent along this journey and the respect of your choices MUST begin. If you take everyone else out of the equation and sit quietly to envision YOUR birth experience, what does it look and feel like? Go in with THAT plan. And have a back up for emergencies.
I know you don't know where you'll live yet, but once you do, find out how far it is to the hospital from your home area in case you need to be transported.
Do you have a real estate agent in the new area? I bet he/she can ask around the office for midwife recommendations. I would be surprised if there aren't moms in that office.
Good luck!
