Where has the last year gone?? Brandt will be 1 on August 1st, and it does NOT seem like it should be a year yet. Oi! We're planning his party already, but we decided to not do anything huge for him. He won't remember it and the first 2 birthdays are mainly for the family anyways. But we're having family and a few friends over for hamburgers and hot dogs, and we're going to do cake and ice cream, of course.

An update on his clubfoot: His feet are looking amazing still. He's only in his braces at night time now, when we can get him to wear them. He also took his first official steps while we were in Texas on the 4th! He was so steady on his feet and confident. It was only 2 steps, but it STILL COUNTS! I still think he will be full on walking by his birthday. He is definitely not letting his foot deformity hold him back.

And speaking of turning 1, when do we start switching him to regular milk? He has a follow up tomorrow at his doctor for his ear infection and yeast infection that he got before we went on vacation, so I'm planning on asking his doctor then, but yea. He's already starting to reject formula, so I'm wondering if it would be ok to start cutting some regular milk in with his formula. He still won't take a sippy cup, but he likes to drink out of our cups when we hold it for him.

Ohhh I see! Yeah I have milk issues too so I'm wondering how that's going to go with my kids.

And yeah it seems like every few years they change their minds about what's best lol.

I have found one sippy cup that he will take, but I think it's only because the spout is shaped like a bottle nipple. =/ I've bought about 15 different kinds of sippys with no luck. We've been giving him sippy cups periodically since he was about 5 months old. But he LOVES drinking out of my cup. He got a hold of my coffee this morning, and wore a whole bunch of it. (The coffee was cold from sitting, and he didn't drink more than a sip before he dumped it.)

And I know 1 year is the mark for switching. With my oldest, his doctor had us start mixing 4oz of formula with 2oz of whole milk, and gradually up the mixture until he was on straight whole milk. But that was 4 years ago, and you know how the "research" changes so quickly. But my youngest has a slight lactose intolerance like me, so I'm not sure if I should mix it with lactose free milk or regular whole milk. I'm going to ask his doctor at his appointment tomorrow morning.

Some kids just don't seem to take to sippy cups lol. Which is good in some ways but bad in others (for example, they're clumsy and are going to make lots of messes with regular cups lol!) ... My daughter is 7.5mo and they told me at the WIC office to start trying to introduce sippys at around 9mo. She doesn't even hold her own bottle at the moment so I don't think she's gonna be ready for that lol.

My daughter's doctor told us 1 year is the time to make the switch to regular milk but hasn't said much else about it. I assume you would mix the two for a while? Seems a bit harsh to just switch right over.
