Old Wives Tales & Bumps
By Sianny » Posted Aug. 23, 2014 8:50am - 264 views - 4 comments

Just for fun because I'm bored and for anyone who has yet to find out the sex of their bean and like playing the guessing game I'm going to look back at some of the popular old wives tales a little to show why although I fully expected another boy this time round due to genetics everything seemed to still be pointed to it being a girl, which Thea is, at least until I have my 3D bonding scan and they turn round and say they were wrong *insert nervous laughter here as I fumble for my receipts to swap the pink baby grows for blue *

I include a picture of cute ass little late twenties me supporting a HUGE baby bump at 23wks with my son, next to it is the slightly slimmer rather daggy looking 30 year old me showing off a 21wk baby bump which I though was big until my sister laughed at me and pointed out I was big the first time, I'm tiny now.
I popped early but since then my bump hasn't really changed much in the past 8 weeks or so.
Am I due a growth spirt?
Watch this space for me going from 'tiny bump' to 'waddlewaddlewherearemyfeetwaddle'.

High Heart Rate means a girl:
Both times I had the heart rate monitored were at 7wks - 169bpm and 19wks - 162bpm and apparently that's right at the high end of the calculator but still perfectly fine. This is probably because she's high on sugar all the time which brings me to my next tale...

Savory cravings boy / Sweet cravings Girl:
With my son I ate two pork pies a day at work, In my defense they were only sold in packs of two. I also remember waking up in the middle of the night desperate for a sausage roll and ketchup or chicken chow mein.
Since about 6wks with this little lady it has been cookies, chocolate and cakes all the way minus the several weeks of horrid horrid morning sickness which leads to...

Bad Morning Sickness means a Girl:
At 8 weeks I threw up with my son and as I had to work I begged for just a mild pill to help me through the day, sure enough one pill to about 14wks had me working and eating. I had two weeks off of work and most of that was just feeling really nauseous.
6wks this time it kicked in and it came on baaaaaaaaaad. I couldn't move, eat, drink or sleep. Everything made me throw up, my gag reflex stopped me from even brushing my teeth. I couldn't care for my son or even get off of the bathroom floor some days. It took trying four different pills to find one that worked and I was on the max dose for the entire first trimester and I lost 10lbs.

Girls steal all of your beauty:
Well I glowed with my first pregnancy but this time around I can't explain to you that I'm so far off glowing i'm dull. Even getting all glamed up with full make up makes it look like I have no make up on at all (please see photo attached for proof). I just don't look pretty at the moment. Not that I care, I'm sofa bound so no one see's me and I know that once my little girl is here I will shine like a proud new mum.

Fathers Genetics can point to boy or girl:
Boys, boys as far as the eye can see on my hubbies side but this baby is all my side! Go Team Pink!!!

Yeah I think Thea is hyperactive that's why her heart rates up. She active almost all day now.
I think she's going to be a handful!

I am with ya on this lol! Craving sweets, the "Non-glowing" haha!, bad morning sickness (although mine didn't last long, a couple weeks, then it's just now coming back round)... only thing that wasn't true for me with my little girl is that her heart rate has always been low =)

He he he My Hunter had hiccups all the time too! He was the same after birth as well.
Thea has just recently reached above my belly button with a jab but prefers the bottom left still.

I think you're quite tiny this time! Big difference, but every pregnancy is different. Im having my 4th boy and all my pregnancies have been different. I would have swore little Hunter was a girl this time! Maybe in the next few weeks you'll catch up. I "popped" about 2 weeks ago, and I'm feeling Hunter up by my ribs at times now. He has hiccups constantly now too, so cute.
