My Journal

32 Days...or more...or less...to Go.

I have decided that science really needs to pull it's finger out and come up with a way to accurately tell when baby will show up. Yes yes yes, an impossible task I know.
I'm dreading that there is a chance that Christmas Eve I will go into labour and miss my son's face on Christmas morning. He's almost 3 and last year he still didn't really understand the Christmas magic but this year he's already excited and keeps asking me about Santa Clause and the elves.
My only hope is that 38 +5 is still early in UK baby times, we're not term until 37 weeks and not full term until 40 then unless there is an issue they can allow you another 2 weeks to go overdue before they induce.
I also DO NOT want to be induced, so many people say it hurts twice as bad as natural labour.

TMI - Large chunk, a fair sized marble, of my mucus plug came away this morning but I'm not concerned as I know it will just replenish but it was good to see it looked very normal lol!
I kicked myself the other day for my journal entry that said even my braxtons had vanished, had some wickedly painful contractions for three hours on Friday, 3 mins apart and even though hubby started talking about the hospital I just knew it wasn't labour.
I've reached an odd serenity with my body and my pregnancy, can't really explain it but I just knew that with a little rest and a paracetamol I'd be fine and sure enough they just stopped. They probably would have stopped sooner but hubby was late in from work so I have a HUGE christmas and weekly food shop delivery to unload so couldn't put my feet up straight away.

Almost took a tumble down our front steps yesterday, the exterior light didn't come on as I went down another step and I missed it taking an unexpected two step leap dragging a 2 year old with me. I managed to land on one foot and stay standing then spun to make sure my son also stayed on his feet, result... WOW does my hip now hurt but beats falling flat on my stomach or letting my son get hurt. Really jarred it though so I'm taking it easy today.

Baby nappies arrived just now, soooooooo tiny.

That's good to know and thanks hun. Like all women I don't remember the pain from my son's birth so perhaps I won't be able to tell the difference if there was lol.
Yup is going to be a month of 'is this it?' Lucky I have a few weeks to get things sorted though. X

Sounds from the way your body is acting that you'll probably go natural, but my personal experience with induction was that is was absolutely no worse than natural labor. As long as the person administering it knows what they're doing(dose should start small and work it's way up based off of your progress), it's not as bad as people say. Of course most of the time we only hear and remember the horror stories anyhow, lol. What an exciting month for you, I'm excited for you! Take care of yourself:)

I am working overtime Friday December 19th from 7a-7p (if I don't go into labor on my own beforehand)...then I am on maternity leave starting Hunter's BIG day December 22nd! I am sooooo bummed to be delivering on the 22nd, because I will wake up in the hospital on Christmas morning.

I, like you, have never NOT seen my kids on Christmas morning. I am heartbroken they will wake up without me...I hate it, BUT Hunter is a gift and Thea is a gift as well, and if you are in the hospital, I am sure your little Hunter will understand and can't wait to see his mommy on Christmas morning!! Brian and I have talked, he is making sure my boys have a great Christmas this year, and he specifically wants them to wait until their baby brother is home so we can all open presents together as a family! Chin up mamma! He's so young, that he probably will ONLY remember seeing his baby sister and not the day itself! :-) XOXO

Oh I understand, I'm waiting to get the cot bed until next year because we have the rocking crib but I'm worried we've forgot something huge lol.
Hope you get the room finished soon, can't wait to see the pictures and I'm so excited to see little Hunter arrive although I'll be sad because I think you're the last of my December due buddies.
When do you start maternity?

It's awesome you are so in tune with how your body is reacting to this pregnancy! I have 21 days exactly! I am having a scheduled C-section, so they scheduled it last week. I have SOOOOOO much to do still before he comes...but only a few more rooms to finish with my nesting, then on to buy a boat load worth of baby stuff before Christmas ALONG with Christmas gifts for my boys...and a room to finish building before I can even start the nursery. I am a little panicked!!! I guess with the crib, I don't NEED a bassinet...ugh I hate stressing! LOL
