There has been SOOOOOOO much going on the last few weeks. My baby shower was nearly a month ago and I STILL haven't had time to put anything on here about it. I swear, as long as I don't go into labor this week, I'll do it. :) My doctor told me 13 days ago that Lyla only has between 1 and 4 weeks by his estimate because she is dropping so low. There is a chance he is wrong, but he's been right about everything so far so I'm not sure how to feel about it. I've been taking life a day at a time, continued doing everything that I normally do, even got some christmas cookies and shopping done, and now I'm just waiting. I have had several cramps, contractions, and stinging/sharp pains in my cervix that I was told may be dilation but so far nothing has been painful or frequent enough to go to the hospital over.
As the title of this entry says: MY BROTHER IS A DADDY!!!! Apparently, since his girlfriend was due the same day as I was (January 21, 2012 according to the most recent ultrasound) and I was told that my baby could come anytime, her baby decided that it wanted to be first and she went into labor 3 days ago. She gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby girl named Rayne Elizabeth on December 18, 2011. She was 4 weeks and 6 days early, weighed 5 lbs, 2.7 oz, and is 18 3/4 inches long. She looks exactly like my bro other than the shape of her eyes and nose. Those are COMPLETELY her mom lol. She got his complexion, his eye color, his hair and hair color, his lips, and his chin. We aren't sure on the ears yet but I would bet those are his too. :) The baby had fluid in her lungs when she was born but it only took a few mins to get her breathing on her own and she now practically has full lung function already. The only issue she still has is that she can't quite eat on her own yet. The doctors estimate that she will be in the NICU for about 3 - 5 weeks but if all is well, it may be less than that. I'm thrilled for them and absolutely love my niece already :)
