My Journal

An Eventful and Exciting Day!

I give up putting my little warning on my journals. If there is a particularly graphic entry, I'll put it on that one, but not on every one anymore lol. We have now made it to 22 weeks 6 days and so far so good! A lot has happened already today and it's only 2 pm. :)

We had a doctor's appointment at 10 this morning. It took awhile to get in because the doctor had an emergency c-section and was running late. When I finally got back to do vitals, they said I have gained 12 lbs through my entire pregnancy, blood pressure is wonderful, 116/66. urine sample said everything was perfect (not positive what all they were checking for but it's great that it was all clear) and heart rate was great but she didn't give me a number on that one. The nurse took me to an exam room where I ended up waiting for about half an hour before the doctor came in.

As soon as he did come in, he immediately told me the I shouldn't worry about the choroid plexus cysts because in his entire career, he has never seen a case where they did not go away before birth. I wasn't even worried about it when he said that but it was incredibly reassuring. He had me lay back so he could measure my fundal height (how high above the pubic bone the uterus is) and see if he could feel the baby.

When the doctor found her, he used a doppler to hear her heartbeat. It took him a second to find it but when he did it was really strong and really fast. Unfortunately, he only has a second or two before Lyla moved away from the doppler. He chased her with it for almost 5 minutes before she finally settled down and seemed like she was going to let him get an exact heart rate. Right when he almost had it, she kicked the doppler. The doctor decided he had had enough of fighting with her and since she was so active with an obviously strong little heart, he wasn't going to worry about it this time around.

When we were finished, he scheduled us for another appointment in 4 weeks. He decided that 2 weeks after the next appointment, we will do the ultrasound and glucose test. 2 weeks following that, we will have what may just be our final appointment! If the cysts are gone and I don't have gestational diabetes, we will be switching to a birth center to do a water birth instead of a normal hospital birth.

When I got home, I made lunch and sat down to look at houses and apartments since we want to move soon. I started feeling the usual little kicks and jabs that I feel after every meal these days but this time I looked down in time to actually SEE the kick! I just watched my stomach jump a few times before she settled back down to sleep but it was awesome. :) It's hard to believe how eventful only a few hours can be. I am really starting to LOVE being pregnant... even with all the rough patches that come with it. :)
