25 week update and bring on the Braxton Hicks!
By ch3rrypie11 » Posted Oct. 30, 2015 4:28pm - 252 views - 2 comments

I am 25 weeks today and had my checkup with my OB as well. If it wasn't so far into my pregnancy already I would switch Dr's for sure. I just always feel rushed out the door from him and that he barely checks anything. If I'm not on top of questions and stuff he would have no clue. I informed him I've been having on and off menstrual like cramping for about 2 weeks now. He said as long as there isn't any blood it's fine but I told him on Sunday I noticed a few drops of bright red blood after wiping. He asked if I had intercourse the night before and my husband and I did and said no more sex and that they are Braxton Hicks. He said the 2nd or 3rd pregnancy usually will get those because the structure inside is more pulled and stretched so it's easier to feel them. The only issue I have is that he didn't do ANYTHING to check to make sure it's not something else. No checking of the cervix or that test they do to see if I'm at risk for pre term labor or anything...just fairly confident it was Braxton Hicks I'm experiencing. The only reason why I didn't freak out either because of the blood on the tp was because I am fairly certain it wasn't coming vaginally but from behind (TMI) I read that I guess while pregnant you can have hemmoroids or fissures and bleed easier and it seemed to be where the blood was coming from. I take comfort in the fact I feel Madison move around everyday and that I am being seen by the high risk Dr's every 4 weeks though. My baby shower was on Sunday too! Nesting has sunk in now and I'm trying to get everything organized and situated now especially before the Holidays. Has anyone else experienced Braxton Hicks or the cramping and it turned out to be nothing? I didn't have it with my 1st pregnancy so I really am not sure.

It's exactly what I'm having too. Just over the course off the day here and there. Sometimes I get intense pain as well. My dr said the same thing about frequency and to worry if there is fluid or blood but it still doesn't make me feel any better!

I don't remember having braxton hicks with my first 2, and this one I've been having them bad this week (20 weeks). I asked about it at my appt today and he too wasn't concerned. I said I was told braxton hicks don't hurt and he said that's right and I said, well these hurt. All he said is if it picks up in frequency and I start having a lot over an hour or two then to go to L&D. But it's not a lot an hour, it's more like over the course of the day... and then sometimes I'll have 10 min of pretty intense pain and then it will subside for a bit. Is that what you're having too? Or is it different from my experience?
