Been a bit of a roller coaster ride but Holly is here!
She was born on Dec 10th at 34 weeks and 3 days weighing 5 lb 3 oz and 13:11 pm after a hellish pregnancy. The birth was surprisingly straight forward though it was be no means easy. I had a cesarean and a total hysterectomy and have been left with only one ovary. The pain after was horrendous as they didn't give me enough morphine to begin with and I have a classical incision which is more painful. I now have a scar going from my belly button to my bikini line. After that though despite being in loads of pain I began the road (or so I thought) to recovery.

At this point I should mention that we were in a hospital that was well over an hour's drive from home and as Holly was quite healthy and only needed to be taken off an NG tube before going home, we wanted her transferred to a hospital nearer home when I was discharged. We were messed about in this regard and I haved to stay in the hospital 2 extra days worrying like hell over the possibility of having to leave Holly so far from home. Luckily however a transfer was arranged so I had my staples taken out as they were due put and discharged to go with Holly to a hospital nearer home.
This is where the problems start. To begin with no one put a drain in me after the op and then when I left I had to drag my own case to the ambulance as no one would help me despite the surgery I had had. At this point though I thought everything was fine and got on the ambulance, got Holly to the SCBU unit \there and went home. However upon going to the loo after being home for less than an hour I discovered that my belly had split open badly. Cue my husband rushing me to hospital while I hold my stomach together which was an incredibly frightening experience. They had to operate on me the next day to clean and resuture the wound.
Then I developed an infection which had the midwives and doctors battling to try and keep my temperature down which was over 40 degrees and had discharge coming out from down below which was agonising to the point I needed morphine for that rather than my stomach ironically. They were also having problems canulating me and as I have a needle phobia I was becoming increasingly stressed what with the IV meds and the blood tests, not to mantion the anti coagulants they kept injecting into me. In fact I have just had the last of those injections (twice daily) today and my stomach is so sore and bruised it is horrible.
Anyway, I got taken for a CT scan which revealed that I had two heamatomas, one inside my pelvis and one in the wound and luckily by then the antibiotic were working. At this point I think that had me on 3 or 4 different types, all IV. Anyway, having finally got ontop of things, I was reunited with Holly who I had not seen sunce her transfer. She was well enough to come up to me on the ward but as I was bed bound with tubes everywhere the midwives had to help me look after her untill I was finally able to get out of bed. From there is was a case of recovering untill we were allowed to go home on Xmas Eve.
