Waking Up at Night
By GypsyTasya » Posted Oct. 26, 2011 10:26am - 240 views - 2 comments

I thought pregnancy made a woman sleep MORE?!?! Instead, since around 7 or 8dpo, I have been waking-up in the middle of the night. Then, when I awake for the day, I'm WIDE AWAKE more-so than before I was pregnant and sleeping the entire night.

When I wake in the middle of the night, I'm really hot, need a trip to the bathroom, and most of the time hungry and thirsty as well. Last night I wasn't hungry - as exception. But, I still awoke around 3am and went back to sleep about half-an-hour later. I awoke again around 430am and was able to fall right back asleep. Lastly, at 7am I woke-up for good. I've never been an "early riser", so I'm a little surprised that this has been consistent from about 7dpo (today is 16dpo/4w2d).

I don't mind feeling fully rested :) But, I'm not a fan of waking-up like that all night. Maybe it will go away?

Hi there!

Thank you for commenting :) Yes, I'd rather the waking-up, for sure, over constant nausea like some of my friends had with their pregnancies. Also, I've thought about the body pillow (last night, in-fact lol). I just haven't gone out and made the purchase yet. That's a really good idea :)

As far as keeping snacks at bedside - I totally see the logic of that but part of my problem is that I'm HOT when I wake. So, I have to get out of bed and head to the den to cool off. I've tried the last few nights keeping the fan on but, for some reason, that's not working. It's funny b/c I haven't even turned the heat on in my house yet, lol.

/hugs!

Hey, I'm just 14 weeks and still waking up in the middle of the night and get up early easily. It's either I have to pee or I'm hungry! Always a reason. I feel pretty rested, and only nap during the day if I get a headache. It hasn't let up yet, but I've kind of gotten used to it. It's better than all day and night nausea? Another thing that was waking me up was being uncomortable so I bought a body pillow to sleep on my side with and put between my knees. Much more comfortable! Keep snacks at your bed too so when you have to eat you don't have to get up and move around too much.
