Today we had our NT scan and doctors appointment. It had been 5 weeks since our last appointment so we were very excited but also very nervous. My husband and I are older parents, 36 years old, and there are a lot more risks involved with having a baby the older you get. The ultrasound tech did an external ultrasound and took all of the measurements for the NT part and then she spent a lot of time showing us around baby. She counted all of baby's fingers and showed us that it was swallowing amniotic fluid correctly because it had some in its little tummy and then some in its little bladder :) I then asked if she was able to tell the gender. She said it was looking like a boy but she couldn't tell for sure because it was sitting on my cervix and was not going to budge. She looked on her computer and saw that the doctor was running behind in her appointments so she could do an internal ultrasound if we wanted to. I said absolutely! She did it and could tell the gender right away...it's a boy! Of course I cried! I also asked if everything looked ok or if she saw anything we should be concerned about. She said everything looked great and she would be really surprised if the blood test part of the NT tests came back showing anything. We then got to go see the doctor. We explained our stress about insurance if the baby was born in 2013 and she said no worries, she will schedule me to be induced. Perfect! We are to go in on the night of December 27th and start the induction and baby will be born on December 28th. Yay! I am so excited!
