Q: Gained to much weight?

Today i saw a different doctor then I normally see and the first thing she said to me was holy cow you have gained way to much and went on the whole appointment pretty much telling me I am destined to be extremely over weight according to statistics and she was kind of a bitch about it....my normail doctor has never said anything about my weight gain...i am 31 almost 32 weeks and have gained 35 pounds...ik it maybe a little much but if it was concerning than why wouldn't by regular dr say something about it to me?

I wouldn't worry about 35 pounds. I LOST 35 pounds after my first IN THE HOSPITAL. Like, first three days. And he was only 8 lbs. 7oz. I gained 78 pounds in my first pregnancy. And so think about it this way, even if you gained 35 the whole time at least 10 of that is leaving you before you even leave the hospital. That is only 25 pounds to lose. And if you're thinking of Breastfeeding (No pressure just an idea) that burns 500 calories a day on average. 25 pounds is nothing to lose ^__^ Just finish off the pregnancy, have that wonderful healthy baby and be a happy, curvy mama.

thanks ringwrathfreak... After calming down about it. I realized its not the end of the world if I gain a little over what is recommended. Everyone's body is different and handles pregnancy differently. I don't eat horribly, there are somethings I could cut out and I plan on doing that. but I am not going to let what one doctor who has seen me once my whole pregnancy upset me that much. I can always lose the weight. I ran 5k's and 10K's all the way up until i found out I was pregnant so Ik how to lose the weight afterwards. My baby is healthy and happy and that is all that matters.

I was crabbed at once about my weight, I gain weight weird, I will go weeks without gaining anything then I shoot up 5 pounds in one day and it stays that way, then a few weeks later up 5 pounds. I have gained 25 pounds and Im almost 38 weeks. Yep she still crabbed because I started off overweight. Kept commenting the whole time on my weight. I think weight is not a big deal, because the wonderful part is, you can always loose it.

You definitely gained over the recommended amount, but it doesn't mean you are destined for obesity! With my first pregnancy I gained 35 pounds, and within a year I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. you don't want to get huuuge, but it's not like you've gained 90 pounds or anything.

I gained 45 with my first and the NP I saw at 34 weeks completely freaked me out about my weight. I ended up losing it all plus an extra 20 pounds at 30 days post partum. I lost 32 of it in the hospital. Ignore them, just be healthy and happy.

Truthfully, I wouldn't even go by the BMI calculator. I HATE the BMI, it doesn't take body frame/muscle into consideration. If you were of normal weight beforehand, I wouldn't worry. Remember, those are just RANGES. I'm right about 34ish pounds now gained, which means if I gain a pound during each remaining week I'll be up to six more pounds (I'm 34wks) which is over the "range". I eat well, workout and I'm all boobs and belly. The rest is water and baby and whatever else my body is doing. My doc is fine with it and if your normal doctor, who has seen you all the way through this thing is fine, don't sweat it!

The normal range is anywhere from 25-30, and you aren't that far over that. If your normal doctor has never mentioned any issues with it, I wouldn't worry about it hun.
