Q: Plugged milk duct treatment.

Any advice for how to treat a plugged milk duct at home? I've never had one and I'm in a lot of pain! I'm not showing any sign of having an actual infection, so I've just been doing the heat, frequent nursing, (extremely painful) massage thing. Just wondering if any of you ladies have had this and can recommend anything else I can add to all that.

Pump it out while massaging and using warm washcloth.

The worst but didn't know I had it until it was an infection. Hope you fight it out before it turns into that.

A heat compress, I used a hot towel, then massage the area, it may be best to do in the shower with the hot water running on your chest, and squeeze your breast to express some milk. Hope this helps you.

I'm sure you've done research on it...but here's the link to the kellymom.com info! http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mother/mastitis/ (it says "mastitis in the link, but it covers both clogged ducts and mastitis)

"Heat, Massage, Rest, Empty Breast"
