Q: 31 weeks baby measuring 2 weeks ahead over 4 lbs???

So today the perinatologist said my baby is measuring big. He's been measuring big the whole time but now he's 2 weeks instead of 1 week ahead. The u/a tech said my baby was going to be short and fat based off his measurements :(. What do you all think? Does he sound that big? I also have gestational diabetes but I'm working really hard on following their diet.

Thanks girls. That's part of what bothers me I guess is that they assume it's my GD and give me a hard time but we conceived him using donor eggs and sperm and have no clue if he is just genetically going to be a bigger baby. I ended up googling and it seems that many have had babies around the same size as mine around this time and still had them end up small. Online days they grow about 1/2 a pound a week so really that pits him between 8-9 pounds which sounds fairly normal and especially when you factor in that they Are most likely off a couple ounces to even a full pound for ultrasounds. Doctor said my belly is measuring within normal range. Guess I'll just have to wait it out. Although I do want to knock that lady out for saying he's going to be short and fat that's just mean. Anyways you all made me feel much better thank you!

My son measured 3lbs 9 ounces last week so Im sure he is over 4 now I dont have gd he I guess is just big. I have a repeat ultrasound for growth in 7 weeks. I know having gd can cause you to have bigger babies. I understand following your diet Ive watched mine and only gained nine pounds so far and he is still measuring big.

I had GD with both my kids and thus pregnancy. My first was 6lbs4oz and my second was 8lbs 6oz. My second measured ahead from 20 weeks on, up to 4 weeks ahead. I was told I was going to have a 10+ pound baby. Didn't happen. A lot has to to with how the baby is positioned at the time of measurement.

It's common for women with gestational diabetes to have big babies, but that doesn't mean it always happens that way. Could be that he will just show up a little early and be normal sized.
