Q: How long did you wait to have sex aftert delivering ?

I am just about 4 weeks postpartum. Bleeding stopped at around 2 weeks and I'm eager to be active again due to not having much sex during pregnancy. I'm concerned that I will be too loose for him ... I had a few first degree tears inside the labia and they were so minimal they almost didn't stitch them but they did for cosmetic reasons. From what I can see there is only a little part of one of the stitches left. I don't have any pain or bleeding or anything like that. I just want some opinions.

My dr gave us the go ahead at about 5 weeks, so we did, and it was fine. No pain at all.

I had sex during week 3. I also had an episiotomy and labial tear (spread outward from my urethra OUCH) and had lingering stitches but it was fine. I'm not sure if this is the norm or just how I healed up, but things are a lot tighter in different places lol so just take it really slow at first and be safe =)

Since you're asking, I didn't wait even close to 6 weeks. Surprised you've made it 4, congratulations;) I'm also the "aggressor" in my sexual relationship with my husband so it was my choice. Obviously gentleness is implied, and there's always oral sex in the meantime if one of you isn't comfortable with penetration. The vagina is quite amazing in the way it stretches and bounces back, don't worry about the loose thing. Also, I definitely don't do everything that my doctor "recommends," doctors are bound by rigid rules that they need to follow to cover their asses in every direction. I realize my opinions about things are different than other people's and most people seem to "stick to the book" when it comes to giving advice, but this is an opinion & experience forum so I'm just gonna tell you my opinions and experience;)

That's a good idea maybe talking to my doctor would help him realize it's okay to have sex before the 6 week mark!

im with papas~mamas on this one. i had sex before the 6wk mark and i had stitches too. not in my labia tho, and mine were mostly healed. just make sure you use protection because in those first 6wks you are like, fertile myrtle and it only takes ONE time lol. unless you want to get pregnant again so soon, some people are up for that :) i know a few people that didnt wait and got pregnant within a 1-3 months of giving birth.

Take it slow! I had an episiotomy and tried at 4 weeks because I felt normal. My husband was gentle and we took it slow but something hurt like heck and we stopped. I was super sore again for about a week. We tried at 6 weeks and it was a little uncomfortable, but fine. Just listen to your body!
