My first trimester test showed a 1:586 chance for downs and a 1:7000 for trisomy, The second trimester screening showed a 1:25 risk for downs but after no soft markers for downs they changed me to 1:50 for downs....This means if you look at percents that I have a 98% chance of having a HEALTHY BABY!!!!
My baby is large no soft markers I just keep praying. My doctor says that many older women test show positive...I asked her why they do the test she said so that we can be prepared just in case. I suppose I will know for sure on the 12Th of NOV cause they are going to induce me at that time.
The risk for a miscarriage with the amnio were higher then the risk for having a child with downs if you look at the percentages and not the ratios. :)

if it was severe there would definitely be tell tale signs on your scans! (i think its nose and back of neck) and both of those would be evident at your 20 week scan so if nothing was mentioned I think everything will be ok. I understand the bitter sweet feeling, but stay positive and I wish you all the best :)
