Hello ladies!
I was just wondering if your man went with you to your first appointment. I know its like 2 1/2 to 3 hours long. Hope to hear some stories or advice from everyone!

My first appointment was also short (at 8 weeks, 6 days). All they did was give me a urine test, calculate my due date based on my last LMP, and schedule the ultrasound for the following week. My OB's office doesn't do the complete work up until 12 weeks. My husband went to that...I would think it would be good for your partner to go so they can answer any questions about the father's family's health history.

I think if he wants to go, then he should go with with you, my partner, will go to as many appointments as he can with me, as long as he isn't in work, obviously he will book time off for scans, but where's the harm, afterall it's his baby too :))))

None of the appointments will be that long! My first appointment was about 45 minutes long. My hubby didn't come along because we didn't see any reason for him to really be there. It is nothing exciting. The only thing you may need him there for is for his family's medical history but if you ask him before hand and go to the appointment knowing yourself then that's okay too.

....I like the idea of having him with me at the Dr's to see what all I'm going through, and be able to experience the fun stuff too! Like hearing or seeing the baby :)

I am followed by the High-Risk unit at the hospital and go every 2 weeks (from the start) for 3-4+ hours of appointments. My husband does not attend these appointments as there really isn't anything for him to do or learn that I don't repeat over dinner. He'd end up working overtime because of it. He has attended the first 4 ultrasounds, I now go every 2 weeks for ultrasounds and he doesn't come to all of them but we mutually agreed it was not neccessary (again he'd end up working evenings to make up for the time).

I would say it depends on both you and him and what you need. The early ultrasounds he was excited to come see baby and I needed him there incase something "scary" was found. He had to juggle work and meetings and he worked evenings to make up time, once he had to set up in the hospital with his computer to run an online meeting right after the ultrasound!

Also, he was insistent he be there when we found out gender which took a few ultrasounds for her to co

well Idk what you mean about "first appointment" because my first 2 were very short and boring. lol. The first I had to pee on their stick to confirm pregnancy, then the second was paperwork, blood work, and more peeing. THEN this thursday I go in for my first appointment with the actual DR. ( :D ) and the length of that appt will depend on what he wants to do. As far as I know it's just a general gyno appointment, and if he decides to, we get to do a doppler - hear the heartbeat, or an ultrasound. I am soooo hoping for one of those, but I'll only be 10w so I'm not sure. A lot depends on the DR you go to. But...My hubby was with me for the first 2 appointments and he'll be with me for every one after that as well :) A) I hate to have some other dude, even my dr, look at me down there without my husband present. It's just weird for me. and B) it's his baby too. There's not much about actually HAVING or CARRYING the baby that he can do except be supportive. So ....
