Q: Any mothers planning to breastfeed and smoke MJ?

Hey ladies!
I'm sure some of you out there indulged in some bud before your pregnancies, and are DYING to start back up, like me, are you waiting till after you're done breastfeeding? Or will you start up once your little one is born?
In MY opinion, marijuana is completely safe. And although some THC will pass through my breast milk, I believe it can be nothing but beneficial. And I do plan on smoking the moment my baby takes a nap when I bring him/her home.
It'll make me a calmer mother, and who knows, maybe the THC will make my baby calmer and more content.

What're your opinions on this matter?
Have you smoked during breastfeeding with your previous children? How did they turn out, perfectly normal?

Please no hate, this is just an opinion based poll!

alishacolin, I'm assuming you said to look at your 4-month-old daughter as evidence that smoking while pregnant or breastfeeding is ok. Studies have shown that it can cause slow neurological development. Obviously, at 4 months you might not be able to detect that because there isn't very much going on with a 4 month old. I hope your child ends up ok. The other big point every is trying to make is that it's illegal, and you could have your kids taken away due to drug use...it happens every day. Why risk it? Just refrain for a while and do what's best for the baby.

There's no solid evidence it causes miscarriage?? Are you serious? During my second pregnancy I was smoking a lot since it was during a time my daughter was with her grandma and I was in a ver abusive marriage and I didn't find out I was pregnant until about 6-7 weeks along and as a result I had a missed miscarriage that was directly linked to smoking. I've refused to even look at the stuff since so get off your high horse on how it's so good and there's no evidence!! I didn't have a hard time getting pregnant with this baby but women who choice to become pregnant do so with that baby's best interest at heart, not for the attention they get or to keep a guy.

Personally I do not care if she smokes, does drugs, parties all the time.. I hope she will be a good parent and make good choices and put her child first and over her own wants.. hopefully she talks to her doctor and listens to what he says.. if he says smoke away go ahead I hope she doesnt but whatever.. any type of drug is bad for the baby no matter what.. that is the reason behind the only tylenol thing. And that is why everyone puts a big deal on drinking and doing anything that can be considered illegal anywhere. I just hope she goes to breastfeeding classes and ask a profesional who has gone and done all the research and done research of her own. And asking her doctor. it shouldn't even matter what we say. but she asked and we told.

I agree with you guys on some level. Okay right, your suppose to eat right, don't take medication that's harmful etc. I red what she wrote, don't need to be snide.. but what my whole point is on using marijuana for Medical Purposes's is that its not this horrible "drug" people make it out to be. You guys are so quick to conclude without solid evidence to back up your guys theory. I've never met a single person with brain defect caused from marijuana or have ever heard of it? Anyways, just want some of you to open your guy's eyes & stop being so negative about the subject. But just like others who say epidurals are horrible for you it doesn't make you a bad person if you take it?? This Doctor did a study on moms who use(smoke or eat) marijuana during pregnancy. Check it out, maybe it will open your guy's eyes a little and not be so quick to judge: http://patients4medicalmarijuana.wordpress.com/2009/12/20/marijuana-cannabis-use-in-pregnancy-dr-melanie-dreher/

Yes anyone who gets on a pregnancy sight and asks something like this, they will get a lot of negative feedback... She didn't say she needed mj for medical reasons did she? I must have missed that somewhere. Also you pretty much are told not to take anything except Tylenol during pregnancy.. in all breastfeeding classes they will say eat and drink as healthy as possible and don't drink or do any type of drug... Better to be safe than sorry.. if you look online at everything you will see negative and positive feedback on every topic..but yes your daughter is a cutie.. no hate just stating what i think. I am not throwing bricks at her.. I am just saying what I think since this is what the question wanted.

ALLI can say is.. if you ask if marijuana is good on this site all your going to get is negative responses. There is nothing better then a non smoker telling you their opinion! In their eyes, a smoker is a druggy or someone who parties, when in fact marijuana has saved many peoples lives & all types of people use it, whether its for pleasure of medical purposes, from chronic pain, seizures, patients with glaucoma and so on. Its the most natural pain medication you can take!! Now to whoever is saying your a horrible person for smoking it, who are you to judge ? Studies have been done & it has no negative effects, if anything they where positive!! Do your research and search up Dr. Melanie Dreher and pregnancy, maybe you airheads will learn a little, open up your minds a bit and not be so close minded or better yet, go to my page and look at my beautful 4 month old daughter :) Now judge awayyyyyy..... lol

Your just jumping to defense the point that people are trying to get across to you is mj can be mixed with all sorts of crap such as herion and LSD so you never know what's in it that's what makes it bad for the baby were as prescribed drugs aren't mixed with stuff like that
