Q: Any mothers planning to breastfeed and smoke MJ?

Hey ladies!
I'm sure some of you out there indulged in some bud before your pregnancies, and are DYING to start back up, like me, are you waiting till after you're done breastfeeding? Or will you start up once your little one is born?
In MY opinion, marijuana is completely safe. And although some THC will pass through my breast milk, I believe it can be nothing but beneficial. And I do plan on smoking the moment my baby takes a nap when I bring him/her home.
It'll make me a calmer mother, and who knows, maybe the THC will make my baby calmer and more content.

What're your opinions on this matter?
Have you smoked during breastfeeding with your previous children? How did they turn out, perfectly normal?

Please no hate, this is just an opinion based poll!

No one is saying shame on you for thinking about taking mj when your breastfeeding because I had a hard time getting pregnant.. People are giving advise (yes harsh advise for some) but that is advise. no one said go jump off a bridge or I hope you die... People are giving advise and yes advise is hard to hear sometimes... I personally said people have hard times getting pregnant and this question hits a SOFT spot. So they are more sensitive with stuff like this which is a risk when you ask a question about any type of drug on a pregnancy website... These women on here are not stupid and they know what they are doing and they are just trying to help this young lady. The truth hurts. The end. I think everyone on here has said what they need to say and I hope this question will go to rest and not be commented on again.. Everyone has said everything that needs to be said

Jess you didn't read Obviously, bc she is newly pregnant and so NO she has not quit for 9 months. To say it is ok to put any drug, prescribed or otherwise in your body is plain stupid. It is not throwing stones, the responses are not personal attacks. She put her info out here, she wanted feedback, and she got it.

I really don't think that MJ is a big deal and she doesn't sound like she has a problem. Hell she quit for 9 months. Shame on you guys for using your stories about your issues to conceive to degrade her. That's not what this website is for, it's for support. I'm sorry you had trouble but that's your business and has nothing to do with the question. She kindly asked for opinions and no hate. Before you go throwin stones at her look at some of the stuff you may have been putting in your body while pregnant or nursing. Have you read the labels on stuff like Zofran or the risks of the flu shot?? Yea, actually a lot worse than MJ.
And if you've ever had any experience with MJ, you would be able to tell if it was laced with anything before consuming enough of it to put anyone at risk. I'd take it over some generic script if I had to any day. Studies are limited and don't exceed 12 months. Probably because it wasn't even worth it!

Research also says the baby is at a greater risk of sids.. and also a doctor can take away your child since the trace of drugs will be in your baby systems for up to 3 weeks. Happened 2 years ago in California when a mom had a prescript for marijuana and she was breastfeeding and got her baby taken away from her... Don't risk your childs life.. Use the 9 months to go and get help and not use it again... Hopefully your innocent baby will help you to stop using

I'd say no because it can be laced with anything and you wouldn't know and you could pass more harmful chemical to your baby through your breast milk.

I'm really gobsmacked. I went through IVF to get this baby and wouldn't jeopardise her for anything, even if she wasn't IVF actually. Everything passes through your breast milk .....would you shove a joint in your babies mouth as that's exactly what you might aswell do!!!

Makes me glad that it's banned over here if people think it's ok to do it whilst pregnant or breast feeding or with kids in the house in general!!!! :/

I'm not sorry for anything I said, I meant every word of it. You asked a questions and wanted opinions and answers and I gave you exactly what you asked for. You've no idea what it takes to be a mom and you think the fact you can get pregnant will only give you more attention. Your wrong. If you cared at all for your baby exposing your baby wouldn't even be taken into consideration. From the reaction you had you sound like you have very serious drug issues and that you would put drugs before your baby. Babies are expensive and take a lot of time, energy, love, and support. It sounds that you only want to support yourself.

Krod0519 Could not have said it better! I tried for so long to conceive and recently had a miscarriage. When I saw this yesterday, I started to respond, but decided not to because my response would not have been pleasant. Thank you ladies for letting her know, as she does look like an undeserving fool.

Your response to the comments are not helping your cause. Cursing at women who are being honest because they are concerned about the health of your child only makes things worse.. Do you not realize that the majority of the users here are mature women who have been trying for a long time to have a baby. You are young and careless, stop defending yourself and try to be an adult. The adult thing a mother would do is to keep her baby safe, a mother's job is to provide their child with safety, comfort, love and food. If your receiving government assistance than how is it you can even afford to smoke? That is a very expensive habit.. Before you go blow money you don't have on drugs provide your child with the things it will need. Diapers are not cheap. In short, take the time to educate yourself before coming here and making yourself look like an undeserving fool.
