Q: Anyone experienced with using a fetal doppler?

I've been using mine for about 2 weeks. I was just under 10 weeks and now I am almost 12. I use it almost every day to see what kind of number I can get. I can get the 130's pretty easily and then sometimes it goes to 140's and then the highest is 181. I'm just curious what is the normal range and any tricks on using them? I can tell the difference in my HB and that artery but its hard to tell what is the baby's sound. I can get a high number and sometimes barely hear anything. Any advice?

This is from wikipedia and seemed accurate to me:
* Week 5 starts at 80 and ends at 103 bpm
* Week 6 starts at 103 and ends at 126 bpm
* Week 7 starts at 126 and ends at 149 bpm
* Week 8 starts at 149 and ends at 172 bpm
* At week 9 the fetal heartbeat tends to beat within a range of 155 to 195 bpm.
At this point, the fetal heart rate begins to decrease, and generally falls within the range of 120 to 160 bpm by week 12.

Hope that helps! If you are using the Sonoline B (which is what I have) I have noticed that if you aren't hearing the baby's heartbeat and the rate is still high that you are probably picking up something else, perhaps the cord or the movement of the amniotic fluid as the baby moves around. If you are moving the doppler around it will also affect the rate you are getting, try to move it slowly. Once you have found the baby's heartbeat you will *know* it is the baby's if you have the sound up, it is a very quick heartbeat sound.
