My 90 lb dog stepped on my stomach and I freaked out too. But just like Mom2soon3 said.. lots of protection in there. However since you are spotting red I would def call your doctor and see what he/she says about that. :)

When your belly begins to get big its easy to bump into so many things. i use to turn the gas stove on with mine..lol.. no not on purpose. I also had a little one who would not remember that I was pregnant and jump on my tummy when I was on the floor...I never had spotting..but our bodies are made to protect that little peanut from impact. All that fluid hangin around the baby is absorbent. Something different happened to your belly today and your body is probably just reacting to it by showing you..hey mom..that didnt feel good. I wouldn't worry to much, but would go ahead and call your doc. Just to ease your mind. Stay calm..:)
