Q: Passing a Blood Clot

I am 33 years old and this is our first pregnancy, I am currently about 7 weeks along. I had dark spotting for nearly a week, so last Wednesday had a US and saw the heartbeat and was told everything looked great. Followed up with my OB on Friday; she did a pap and a few other test and said everything looked great. Saturday AM woke with pink/red spotting only when I wiped after a wee. Sunday it got worse. Monday it was getting better but OB wanted me to have another US so we went to the ER they did one; everything looked great. ER doc said it's probably from the placenta attaching. 2AM wake up go to wee, PJs blood stained and a gush of blood, followed by hours of very low abdominal pains and another small gush of blood. At nearly 7AM I passed what appears to be a large blood clot. Cramping is gone and bleeding is less. ER doc and OB have put me on rest and progesterone. Has anyone else experienced this and still had a healthy baby?

hmm could also be a possible Subchorionic Hemmorhage. SCH for short. Pretty common to pass clots, cramping and blood with a SCH. There are a few ladies on here that have had SCH and bleeds like you describe. Most the time the SCH will resolve itself in the second trimester. Best thing if it is a SCH is to rest and drink plenty of water. The reason why I question this as a SCH is because even after some bleeding you have had u/s and baby has been fine with a present heart beat. There are success stories on this very website for women that have had SCH. They either resolved or even if not I have read many good outcomes of healthy babies being born. Have you had another u/s since the larger clot??? if you do get another u/s I would perhaps ask about it being a possible hemorrhage. Hoping for the best for you! in the meantime take that progesterone, rest up and drink plenty of water.
