Q: Is there anyway to have baby checked at next appt?anyone taking propanolol or fiorcet while pregnant

So i went to my neurology appt two weeks ago. He prescribed me fiorcet to take as needed for my severe headaches and propanolo to take daily. I do not have high blood pressure. He prescribed it in hopes that it will take away my headaches and possibly help with my dizziness lightheadedness and fainting. These are all pre existing conditions before I was pregnant. I am worried to take these medications but I can admit fiorcet does help alot! My ob said that it is known to cause low birthweight babies and sometimes a premature baby.... I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this? I am also going on 11wks. Two weeks ago I was in er on pain meds and took them at home for three days since I had kidney stones. My next ob appt is at 12wks 2days... I think its just a reg ob check up. Is there anyway they can reassure me that my baby is okay at this appt?? I'm very very worried.... especially with how often I faint and fall... thank you for listening and any advice offered!

I feel if your worried (and pay for your visit/insurance ect.. ) you should be able to have the treatment you feel is nec. explain your concerns to your dr and if he is unwilling to ck things out for you , maybe find another one it is our right as women to feel safe and secure during our pregnancies, the dr isnt paying for your visit you are and are intitled to the treatment you want and deserve !

safefetus.com is a good site. The spelling for the first med you mentioned wasn't coming up but I looked up Fioricet and it's category C.

I am 19 weeks and my dr too prescribed me fioricet (the one with out codine) and im on a similar drug to proproanol called metoprolol er for a heart condition i only have been taking that as needed as its passed thru my placenta and causes my baby girls heart rate to be a little low. So far my baby is doing well and my high risk ob never said it could harm our child.
safefetus.com can tell u what drugs are safe and what pregnancy category they fall in.
