Not too sure about your medical costs as I am from the UK and all our pregnancy needs are free, but i get my prenatals from a local chemist that are £10 so you should definitely take others advise and purchase those yourself than getting them from your doctor. Hope you get it sorted, even if its just finding someone to talk to as money worries are stressful anyway let alone being young and pregnant at the same time. Good Luck!

Leniana- I think asking her why she hasnt done something isnt really helping her figure anything out...Shes asking us for help..Maybe you had poor wording..or just plain not being sensitive. She obviously isnt aware of all the help there is..probably why shes reaching out. Loving answers guys. Remember when you were 17...its a bit of growth period..

Medicare/ Medicaid( your health and babies health)... Food stamps(you probably qualify for this now beings your pregnant and need to eat..but all these places will require you to have medicare/medicaid lined up and confirmation of pregnancy)..and WIC(wic provides for you and baby.. food and formula).also like others say... Prenatal pills are very cheap at Walmart and Walgreens..It is very important to take those..Specially cause I'm not saying anything directly toward you..but I know how I ate as a teen..and with that being said..you will need all the things in that pill to provide the best guaranteed nutrients to you and your baby! Get on any and ALL government assistance..its not about anything other then providing complete care for you and baby! You dont have to tell anyone and be embarrassed. But you are about to be a mommy..so anything that secures a good healthy future for your baby..are things that you need to do! Good Luck.. I would apply today!

Yes every visit is important. around 24 weeks is where you can start to develop gestational diabetes, and later you could develop preclampsia, and they still need to do the targeted ultrsound to make sure all the organs are developing properly. You need to call baby your baby. the website is babyyourbaby.org. It will start you on state insurance where you will not have to pay for anything. No hospital bill, and no dr bills. they will also start you on wic, which is free groceries. I had to do all this when my first baby (now third). I was getting a divorce at the time and was like a single mom. It was the best thing I could have done for both of us. My son was born at 24 weeks and his hospital bills were more than 400,000 dollars. I didn't have to pay anything, it was all covered. Please for the sake of your baby keep all dr. visits. And choose a cheaper prenatal. I use Natures Bounty and at Walmart it is about $7 for a 3 month supply.

If anything, its more important to see your doctor at the end than the beginning. You shouldn't stop seeing them. How are you going to afford a baby if you are struggling before its even arrived?

If your prenatal pills are too expensive, buy One a Day prenatals. I take those and they are like 15 bucks for a on month supply. Yes prenatal care IS necessary. It is the only way to make sure that everything is going the way it should. To ensure you have no to little complications you need to go. Plus, some insurance companies will only pay if you attend ALL of your appointments. So not going could end up costing more. If you are concerned about money, switch to a woman's clinic where prices are usually cheaper. Having a baby is only going to get MORE expensive after you deliver and start raising your little one. You are also in the point of your pregnancy where you can develop gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and other conditions which are not just a threat to your baby, but to you as well. It may be financial difficult right now, but it is worth it and it is necessary.

Why have you not gotten on medicare/medicaid or whatever? It would cover everything. I am assuming you have your own plan through a job and are not on a parents plan though. It is important to continue seeing the doc because you can develop things like preeclampsia during the second half of the pregnancy, and that is one of the things they monitor you for. Talk to your doctor and see if you can pay cash for visits and start a payment plan. A lot of times if you are paying directly they will lower their prices because then they don't have to deal with the insurance companies.

Prenatal care is very important, just because everything is going good now doesn't mean there won't be a problem down the road. Also in regards to prenatal pills, go to walmart or target and buy womans one a day prenatal vitimins. they are only $13 not $100. Can you look into getting state insurance. That would help alot with the cost of the doctor. Good luck to you and please continue to see your ob.
