Q: Big Sister?

My Mom mentioned getting my daughter (who will be almost 8 when this baby is born) a Big Sister shirt. Is she too old to have a shirt made like that? I've only seen smaller children with "I'm the big brother/sister shirts".

I don't think she is too big.
She is still just a small girl and I think it would help her get excited and feel involved and important.
:)

All my older kids (then 8,10 & stepson 12) had them. I questioned if they were too old but they liked them. The hospital staff put the baby's footprints on their shirts when she was born. It really got them involved. She is 4 and they all still have their shirt they wore.

I was 15 when i got alittle sister and me and here still today have things that say big sister lil siter it makes bound for life. and when there a big age gap liek that it makes it more of a connection like there a responsiblity for the older sibling to watch out for the younger one.

Why not? Worst case scenario is that your daughter doesn't really like it, will wear it a few times for Grandma's benefit, and that will be it. If Grandma thinks it'd be fun/cute, I don't see a problem - I can't see her spending big bucks on the shirt, so it'd be worth it if it puts a smile on her face :)

I think it depends on the kid, it could really help make her feel involved and excited about the new sibling. I don't think we are ever to old for family :)

I totally got my son (who just turned 9 in Feb) a big brother iron on to put onto a plain t shirt. He was very excited about it. It has transformers on it, I also saw Mario - I wasn't looking at girls ones so no idea what they had for them, I got mine off Ebay). I don't think they are too big at all, especially if it's their first little sibling.
