Q: Thoughts about Boppy pillows?

I've heard conflicting reports about the usefulness of having a Boppy pillow for breastfeeding. Most of my friends and family say they didn't like it, it wasn't helpful, etc. At my breastfeeding class, it was recommended but I also see varying viewpoints online as well. This is my first baby so I don't really know what to expect (I'm also plus size...if that plays into it). I'd love to hear any feedback from anyone who probably knows a lot more about this than I do:-) Thanks for your help!!

I didn't breastfeed but I can tell you that the boppy pillow is great! I used it when we bottle fed, just laying around it would prop him up enough to see what is going on around him and then when we started tummy time I started with the boppy pillow so he wouldn't get so frustrated at first! I highly recommend one!

I loved my boppy with my son, made feedings easier and the one I have has straps on it so baby can sit in it and not slip. I plan on using it again with this lil man.

It really depends on your body I think... The boppy wasn't that useful for me because I have a longer torso so it wouldn't hold him up enough to reach my breast without me leaning over. You might "try one on" at the store or something and see how it works for you. You will want some sort of a pillow for nursing for sure, whether it's just a plain old pillow or a fancy nursing one won't matter, as long as it works for you :)

Why not just use a normal pillow? They look like a waste of money to me.

I found it extremely helpful for night feedings and for use in a rocking chair. (Otherwise I just lay my little boy on my knees sitting cross legged on the couch and he is high enough to nurse) Part of his night routine is nursing and it is nice to have him laying on a pillow for that feeding while he relaxes for bed. I plan on using it again with my next one.

I am plus sized too and used a Boppy pillow to breastfeed my son up until about 10 months old, so much easier because your arms get really tired and sore holding a baby on a breast for so long and this way you can position the baby and not tire out your arms so much better, and they actually make a large boppy that isnt already a C shape but you can fold it how you want it. I kept mine from my son and will be using it again with this Little one
