I was about 185 before I got pregnant, and between morning sickness, giving up pop drinking, eating healthy, and going on lots of walks, I lost 15 pounds so far in my pregnancy. ( My morning sickness wasn't horrible by any means). The doctor has not said a single word to me about my weight, but said if she had any concerns she would say so right away. I'm happy to be losing weight, especially as long as baby is safe and healthy. I'm not showing very much, and you cant see my bump if I don't show skin. So I'd say if it was really a big deal the doctor would let you know. Until then relax and enjoy your pregnancy (:

I lost 11 pounds my first tri this pregnancy and 10 with my son. It's very common especially if you are already overweight. However losing weight in the second tri isn't super normal, though some women maintain the same weight or lose a bit and they are fine. Is it possible your doc is in the old school of women must gain 30 pounds during pregnancy? Current research shows that overweight women shouldn't gain that much and 20 pounds might be more reasonable to expect. Was he concerned enough to schedule you for additional tests or ultrasounds? I wouldn't worry unless that is the case. You have fat stores in your body to handle the calorie requirements of your baby and you should be taking a prenatal vitamin to fill in the rest. Don't eat a bunch of junk, make what you do manage to eat count and you should be just fine :)

Its surprising that your doctor is worried as its very common to lose weight in the first trimester - Unless you start off underweight its not a cause for concern. I know two women that started off on the larger side and lost so much that at full term they were still under their pre pregnancy weight. They had perfectly healthy and happy babies.

I'm the same, I lost 10+lbs in my first trimester. I keep track of my weight at home because at my doctors office, their scale is ALWAYS off. I haven't really talked to my doctor about it yet because I thought it was normal to lose weight during first trimester. For about a week straight I would just eat cereal in the morning and have a light fruit later on. I just didn't have any appetite. Now, I'm at 11 weeks and I'm slowly getting my energy and appetite back. I would still talk to the doctor...now I'm a little concerned too..
