Q: regular use of doppler

for all those mummies who used fetal dopplers at home, how often did you use them? I get alot of relief when using mine and hearing bubs heart beat however dont know how much is too much, do you think once or even twice a day is ok well to be honest i probably wont do it twice a day but think i would love to do it once a day but do you think this is bad for bubby?

Thank you so much every one, I feel much better now :) Im able to find the heart beat really well at the moment so only taking a few minutes or so and then i just let the machine listen for about 20 seconds so it can give me the average heart beat and then i turn it off :) wont be using it today at all as i have a scan instead. Im so happy that so many of you used it daily and everything is fine, my misscarriage in february was at just under 14 weeks and it was a missed misscarriage so im just a little nervous at the moment, I think ill only need to use it so often whilst ill get through the next few scary weeks as im 11 weeks +3 at the moment and just want the reassurance everythign is ok :) Thanks again :)

I used mine every other day until I started to feel my son moving every day. It cut down 100% on my nervousness!

I tried to keep mine to a once a week check (for around ten minutes), but if you keep the use short I don't think once a day would hurt. I would use mine once in a while in-between my weekly checks if I just got a bad feeling, and everything has been fine. If you are worried about it affecting the baby then just make yourself turn it off after you have heard the heartbeat for a moment; you get the reassurance you need but minimize the stress.

I just got mine a few days ago and have been using it once a day at least. I had two previous miscarriages so it really helps me keep my sanity in the early weeks when you cant feel the baby move yet. I'm only 13 weeks right now. The baby doesnt seem to like it very much though! The little stinker won't hold still for more than 30 seconds! But thats long enough for me to know its ok in there.I can here it kicking around in there too. It's so awesome!

i bought a fetal monitor at a yard sale, and its an older one from like 2000, and i cant really hear much yet ( im 17 weeks 2 days) buuuut if i had the good one i would probably use it once a day even tho my hubby thinks thats too much!! but once a day is ok! whatever makes you feel happy!!

I limited it to once a day or every other day . I have an anterior placenta so I didn't feel my baby kick that much until more recently (I'm 37 weeks now). I was always paranoid, so using the doppler made me feel much better. My DH didn't want me using it too much because he thought it would make her neurotic:-) LOL I wasn't able to always find her (she liked to escape from me). If you can't find the heartbeat, just don't freak out...just try again a little later. It gets easier, but I wasn't able to find her consistently until 12-14 weeks. I loved having it though and it really helped me not worry as much!
