Q: Anyone had to receive a weekly shot to avoid pre-term labor?

My dr suggested once I'm 16 wks they'd like to give me a weekly shot to decrease the risk of preterm labor due to the fact that I went into active labor at appr. 7.5 months. Just wondering if anyone had it before and if there were any side effects etc. Thank you!

My doctor said I'd have to start the shot at 16wks and I would have to get one every week until the 38th week. I've never heard of it either but she said shed explain more when it was time. Thank you for your story.

My girlfriend had twins, and she was plkaced on a tributaline pump to administer meds to keep her from contracting from about 25 weeks on, and was also on bedrest. It worked for her, and she delivered 2 healthy babies at 35 weeks. I hope this helps to put your mind at ease a bit. I have never heard of anyone getting shots as early as 16 weeks though.
