I was having alot of cramping and back pain when I went to my last appointment. I was 33 weeks. She said she wouldn't check me because she didn't want to start something. She said if the contractions were 10 minutes apart and so strong that I couldn't walk or talk then I should be concerned and call her. She said otherwise don't worry unless they get stronger. Hope this helps. Today I had a NST (non-stress test) and I was having contractions on the machine. They didn't seem concerned and said they were Braxton Hicks.

Let the doc know the amount of BH's you have been having and they will absolutely check you for any possible progression..

My doc said 37 weeks. But that at my next appt (36 weeks) she's doing the group B strep test so if I wanted to be checked then, she would. Just call and ask what your doctor usually does, so you can plan accordingly and get a baby sitter for those appointments if you need to.

The doc checked mine at 36. Said I had an option for 37 and then from then on it was mandatory to be checked. I would have said yes to my 37 week cervical check but she had a brand new student shadowing her and so she said she was going to skip the check since it was the optional one anyways.

I think they start checking your cervix every week at around 35 or 36 weeks.
