I am not sure if it was the MOM, colace or prune juice or a combo of all. I drink two cups of warm prune juice(ITS DISGUSTING...lol) and colace once a day and MOM if i need it.

Hello :) I'm just wondering how you went? I've been having the same problem so I asked my Mother inlaw what to do! They always know all the old remedies that they used..She put me on Psyllium Husk! You can buy it from most super markets or health food shops..You just put a sprinkle on your cereal or I put it in a cold milo! I found it helped me but I think it's different for everyone. Also you can buy cereals that have added psyllium in it..I would be careful using suppository's because I was told they can bring on labour. Good luck! :)

I was very constipated for weeks and nothing was helping....prunes, water, fiber pills, nothing

What did finally work was using a suppository to get things going. I used them about every second day for a week and tehn added the fiber pills, worked for me

"Eventually you will go" is complete bunk. Not everyone will clear constipation if it is bad just so you know and intervention is required occasionally. You will know if you need ER...That being said my doc told me to take up to three colace a day and if that didn't work to take MOM. She said I could do a saline fleets enema if nothing kicked it because I work for the GI docs at my hospital and DON't want to have to go to them for remedy unless it is an absolute emergency. Stop your prenatal vitamin if it has iron and discontinue any calcuim supplements until you are more regular since both are extremely constipating. A bowl of instant oatmeal and an apple a day help me but I am still having poop problems at least once a week. You can remove the impaction manually if you are brave enough to do it...yes gross but that is usually the first thing they try in the ER so be warned if you have to go there that is what they will do.

I noticed that eating fruits (kiwifruit or mandarine) first thing in the morning, before anything else, helped me to go. Hope that can work for you as well!

i've used lots of fiber, hot drinks like caffinated tea, and dulcolax. Sometimes it takes 3 doses of dulcolax but eventually it makes the stools soft enough to go... Also stay away from high fat foods, sometimes that can make it worse. They say that you can use some of the laxatives safely, but the one time I did that my stomach hurt so bad I cried and it wasn't worth the pain.

I get way more fiber than I need, I think that helps for the most part, and use the dulcolax for the occasions where that doesn't work. Eating fruit with all your meals is great way to get it.

You can use milk of magnesia. Take 30 milliliters before bed and it should help! I feel your pain, sister!

All I can really suggest is just waiting. I was the same way from like week 6 until week 10. I tried everything.....colace, fiber, excercise. Nothing would help. I talked to me Doctor and she explained that eventually you will have to go. Yes, its terribly uncomfortable, but you will get relief! Hang in there!
