Q: Lightly bleeding, light cramps? 8 weeks pregnant! What is going on? I'm worried and scared.

My mom ensured me it was normal, so did other people!

But, when I woke up this morning I noticed some pinkish red blood on my panties and freaked! I told my mom and she said it was normal but we need to watch it.

Then, I started to notice that I was light bleeding, it wasn't dark red, or bright red...kinda in the middle...with pressure cramps. No clots. Didn't fill up whole pad.

Then, I started to notice, the light bleeding got lighter and pressure cramps got lighter. Didn't fill up whole pad.

My mom said, this was normal in the first trimester and at 8 weeks. She had it, and she knew many women who did and they had healthy babies!

I am worried that, the positives I had were false and I'm not really pregnant and this is just a really light period!
Or, I am pregnant and I am going to miscarry!:(
Or, I had a chemical around implantation and body didn't recognize it, so I still had faint positives.

Doctor's appointment soon.

I have heard of many women experiencing this in early pregnancy and going on to have a normal healthy pregnancy...but I have also heard of these symptoms being the onset of a miscarriage. I think you should definitely go see your doctor asap to find out for sure. In the meantime try to relax as it could be nothing to worry about!

I've been dealing with cramps since the beginning so bad that I thought I was losing my baby. Every time I called the er, they always told me to relax but if there was blood to come in IMMEDIATELY! So I'd go in if I were you. It's true that a lot of women have spotting during pregnancy, especially the beginning but it's always better to be safe and paranoid than sorry.

With any bleeding....especially RED bleeding, you need to call your doctor to just let him/her know. They may want you in for an ultrasound and bloodwork. Unless your mom is a doctor, I would not think it's normal. Any bleeding is a cause for at least some concern.

My doctor told me that cramps can be normal, as can bleeding, but both at the same time definitely needs to be checked out. I've heard of a lot of people who have had cramps/bleeding in the first trimester and everything was ok but I would get checked just to make sure. Good luck!!!

I agree. Definitely go and see your doctor. Bleeding is common in some people, but it isn't always a normal thing. For some people its a sign that something is wrong. Only a doctor will be able to confirm that the bleeding is normal or not. Good luck, and try to relax.

I think it is better to go and get checked.Bleeding during pregnancy is NOT normal . I had brown spotting from week 4 to week 7 sometimes on and off, but was very brown in colour and never had cramps or back pain. They didnt find the reason for that and now Im 33+3 weeks pregnant. But I had a lot of worries and had 2 early scans to confirm that everything with the baby is going well. I know women who had a lot of bleeding and had normal pregnancy , also know women that had just spotting and miscarry....So it is better to be safe than sorry and go and get checked , because every pregnancy is different .Good luck and keep posted!

Could this light bleeding possibly be from what would have been your period had you not been pregnant? Since your 8 weeks that would mean you are due a period? Ive heard of some ladies who still get light spotting for the first trimester when they should have had a normal period. Your definetly pregnant hun, you wouldn't be getting positives if you werent.. Ive also had a chemical before and I filled up pads- I was very heavy and in a lot of pain from cramping. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but you have done the one thing I would have advised and thats see a doctor. Please keep us updated with how things go at your appointment. Good Luck x
